A question about "Chosen"

I have often wondered if the spell in "Chosen" meant Buffy and Faith losing some of their strength as Slayers. I know that when the spell was done, it showed all the Potentials getting stronger as the spell worked around the world. But I've often wondered about the effects on Buffy and Faith and whether or not they became just a little bit weaker, physically, as a result.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't think so. Kendra, then Faith coming didn't seem to make Buffy any weaker. I think it's independent in each girl.

Um, I really never thought about that. I think it made them stronger. Because they were all conected. All the slayers in the world.

I get what you're saying, but since they were sharing their power with all these girls, I thought that "sharing" meant dividing...But perhaps it did only make them stronger. 🙂

I think they actually became stronger, at least temporarily. I suspect when the Scythe released all that Slayer magic and activated all the Potentials, it also amped up the powers of the existing Slayers, which is why Buffy was able to recover so quickly from having that sword run through her... her Slayer healing was working in overdrive.

I doubt the new Slayers took any of their power from Buffy and Faith. It looks like there was a huge reservoir of power that the Shadow Men (who created the first Slayer) either didn't know about or wanted to keep locked up because they couldn't control that many Slayers.

Yeah, in one hand what you're saying does make sense. But I think Slayer's power is big and there's a lot to share 🙂

The magic that created the Slayer line came from the Shadow Men. Two completely different spells, using two completely different power sources.

I viewed as unleashing the power in the potentials and doing nothing else to Buffy and Faith, they being already full powered slayers.

I always saw it as 'unlocking' the power that was already there. They had the Potential to be the Slayer, so they had the power anyway, it just needed to be released.

I remember the Guardian saying that they came first, before the Shadow Men. The Shadow Men imbued the Slayer with power, yes, but the Guardians came first.

The Slayer activation spell came from the power held in the scythe. I agree that it made the Slayers stronger, especially remembering the expressions and reactions that the Potentials had whenever the spell was cast. Like Kennedy said, "I could get used to this."

I don't think it was a temporary thing either. Once activated, they became Slayers for life... Like in that Angel episode, when they encountered that Potential who was so messed up- the power of the Slayer line was there, but she was so broken at that point (for so many reasons), she didn't know how to handle her powers.
