A Slayer wants a career too!

When you ask Buffy what she wants to do in her life, she never really gives an answer, as far as I remember. She did say she wanted a career, not just a job. And when Willow asks her if she's not curious about what she could be, Buffy dismisses her because she knows all she could be is a Slayer, that's her fate. But I'm sure she wanna do and be things. So what do you think she would want to be and do if she could?

I don't really think it got that specific. I mean it was kind of just accepted, by her, that that probably wasn't going to happen. If I knew I couldn't go on and have a career and do what I wanted to with my life, I wouldn't even think about it, it'd be too painful. I think that was what Buffy did.

Well, it hard since season 8 is still going on and she is needed to work with the other Slayers. But, 10 years from now I can see Buffy, ironically, being a high school principle or teacher. She has so much experience, intelligence and advice to give to kids in the situation she hated being during s1-s3.

I, for one, thought that Buffy's career as a guidance counselor would have been a great one for her on a long-term basis. Even though she didn't always do a great job in Season 7, I think that she would have been a good one if she had had the time to grow into the role.

I think that, most likely, Buffy would want a career as far removed from demon fighting and apocalypse averting as she could possibly get, just the same way that Superman wanted the relatively sedentary career as newspaper reporter for his Clark Kent secret identity. That's why I've never seen her as running a self defense school or being a police officer or security guard (all of which have been used in assorted fan fiction) Being a child counselor might appeal to her, or maybe something as mundane as a secretary or librarian. I'm pretty sure, though, that whatever she did finally choose, it would have to be something with little or no requirements for night work (she probably learned her lesson about that in Sunnydale) or anything else that might interfere with her Slaying, which is, of course, her primary, inescapable, calling.

I've never thought about this before, but it just occurred to me that she might be a nurse. Because of all the horror she'd seen, she would still feel compelled to help and care for others--only this time, instead of killing evil she'd be healing those who'd been hurt by it.

I always liked the fact that Buffy was intelligent, she got offers for some great colleges and even managed to out-perform Willow in college. It would be interesting to see how her life would have played out without being a slayer and if Joyce hadn't got sick. I think at this stage she will always be a champion with a career very much at hold. I think the guidance counselor thing was forced but not a bad idea. Something similar to Anne in Angel would be nice too.

I think she'd be great as a counselor as HisMrs said because she's a really human person (LOL), she can give really good advices and give a great support if she feels enough sure of herself (not like in season 7, she didn't believe she could do it) but I think she could do almost anything she wanted to...I also like the fact she was so intelligent.
