A thought I had

I had a long thought process that led me to this thought, and I'm not going to explain it, so I will jump to the question:

If Buffy, Spike, Angel, and Faith were all forced somehow to be in one location together for an extended period of time, how do you think they would interact, considering every specific character's history with one another?

If Buffy, Spike, Angel, and Faith were all forced somehow to be in one location together for an extended period of time, how do you think they would interact, considering every specific character's history with one another?

We've seen in Season 5 of "Angel" that Angel and Spike have reached a grudging but genuine respect for each other, and despite the "No Future For You" arc in Season 8, I would feel confident in saying the same thing for Buffy and Faith. What remains to be seen is how Angel and Spike would react around Buffy, as in, would the old "Alpha Male" instinct re-manifest itself, which I believe would be a definite possibility. To avoid any chance of that happening, my guess would be that the safest situation would be for Buffy and Faith to work together, letting Spike and Angel do the same, and both Slayers, for the mutual good of the group, making certain that both vampires are never around Buffy at the same time. Any combined pair of the four would make an excellent team, and I think that that is the way that they should operate on a semi-permanent basis, only all coming together when a situation presents itself where there will be too much fighting of the enemy for Spike and Angel to have time to be jealous, petty, or childish. As soon as the immediate danger is over, of course, each Slayer would grab a vampire (they could flip a coin, draw lots, or play "rock, paper, scissors" to decide who goes with who, but would NEVER make any sort of personal choice. Purely luck of the draw and no cheating) and heads off in opposite directions to do whatever celebrating and/or unwinding they might care to do, anything from playing checkers and watching reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger" to full out Roman bacchanalia and orgy, with the understanding that whatever does happen is never, ever, discussed afterwards. That's about the easiest way that I could imagine to keep a relatively safe and peaceful environment.

Now, granted, that might sound a bit complicated, and it would still present some problems, but it would serve to keep violence, destruction, and personal injury to a minimum.

Ouhh that's cool!
After two seconds Spike and Angel would get into a wild discussion about astronauts and cavemen. Because Spike can't convince Angel and the other way around they start kicking their ass. As we expect, Buffy and Faith try to calm them down but instead they get involved in this discusion and surprise surprise the two women have two different opinions. So in the end everybody is fighting.
After a long time four very tired and "kicked ass" people sitting in this room. Because they forgot about the discussion-question they decide not to quarrel anymore. Till the question arises wether a dolphin or a giant-sea horse is stronger...

Heck, there will be no flipping of coins - no way Buffy will leave that to chance, and no way Angel is going anywhere with anybody but Buffy. Btw, I think Faith would be sane enough to *not* touch Angel with a six feet pole while Buffy is around. And no way she and Faith would stay civil to each other or go into discussing anything rather than their personal differences. Same applies to Spike - his jealousy is of a mega- disproportional level - arguing about anything *but* Buffy's affections would not be happening. So, Spike jumps on Angel at first provocation - Faith abandons her quarrel with Buffy and joins the fight to pull him off of Angel - Buffy jumps in to pull Faith out (because she does not want Faith anywhere near Angel) and eventually the fight stops. In the end, everybody is sulking and licking wounds - Buffy with Angel firmly in her lap. Spike and Faith in the opposite corners of the room.

Hmm ? Putting these four into the same place for a long time and asking a question what happens - ? My understanding is that the scenario was designed to be quite explosive. Mind that I did not went into hypothetical scenarios of the four being divved into couples or having n-somes. I actually think that the end would have been all four of them splitting up and heading in four different directions.

Hmm ? Putting these four into the same place for a long time and asking a question what happens - ? My understanding is that the scenario was designed to be quite explosive. .

I was working with the assumption that the 4 people in question would be "forced to be in one location together for an extended period" only under extremely demanding conditions (such as the return of the First Evil) thus creating a situation that would be unavoidable and POTENTIALLY explosive, and I proposed a method of avoiding the spark needed to trigger that explosion. In that way, the four people in question to be able to function with an optimum degree of effectiveness. That could not be done if Buffy showed favoritism toward either man. This isn't a question of Buffy choosing which of the two (or 3 if you're a Fuffy shipper) she wants to play snuggle puppy with, it is a question of General Buffy (I'm assuming here that she would be the one in charge) utilizing her troops in an optimal manner. As she told Robin Wood, it's the mission that counts. There wouldn't be any time for romance until after the battle was won, at which time there might very well be no decision left to make.

I can see Spike and Faith getting along really well. I imagine the both of them making jokes at Angel's expense. Other than that I can see Buffy playing the "mother" role and always having to split Angel and Spike up and keep them in check due to their jealousy issues they have with each other. And Faith would always have some witty comment to say about the 3 of them during this.
