What image from the show most accurately encapsulates your idea of the show? I'm looking for the image that really makes you feel something about Buffy, the one that tells you what it's about and what it means.

For me it has to be either the moment in "Anne" when the camera zooms in on Buffy to find her looking up from under her brow, axe[thing] in hand, just daring anyone to take another shot; or the power shot of the gang going off to war with the rockett launcher in "Innocence".

Thoes two images really evoke something in me, weather it be Buffy at it's best, real meaning, or that they simply appeal to me. In any case, they are Buffy to me, they actuallize everything I feel or think when it comes to Buffy.

I think, for me, it's either the shot of the whole gang in "Family", when they're confronting Mr. MaClay. Or. "Showtime" when Buffy is done fighting the uber-vamp. Right when she says "Here endth the lesson" Gah! I also think in the last scene of "Bring on the Night". The way Buffy has the look of resolve and courage.

I'm going to say the image of the leap of faith in Chosen. Tons of symbology there. Scythe connecting the slayer line past to future, bus of potential, stuff like that.

Hm, that's such a hard question. Okay I like all the ones you guys picked out but.. I don't know what mine would be. Probably something from Chosen, feels like it at the moment but that doesn't feel completely right to me for some reason.. Maybe something from the end of season 4 but I'm not exactly sure what that would be.. Hm yea okay I know this isn't a real answer, blah, I'm no good at this..

That IS a tough one. I mean out of every shot, in every episode. It's hard to choose just one that defines 'buffy', but if I had too it would be the shot of buffy jumping for dawn in 'The Gift'. It's sacrfice,at one point or another everyone in the show has had to sacrifice something for the ones they love.

But thats really just one aspect of Buffy, thats why I'm finding it so difficult to choose 😕

An image that sums up the verse? It's so hard to choose between them!

I agree with all the previous ones... especially the scene in "Anne" and "Bring on the Night".

I believe another important image would be in "Chosen" after Buffy has gone down with the mortal wound. The First has taken on her guise, and is taunting her. We see Buffy stand up, in slow motion, say "Get out of my face" and thwack three ubervamps off the side of the cliff. Amazing!

At the end of S6 a couple of scenes spring to my mind - Giles' surprise entrance ("I'd like to test that theory") and the scene where Xander talked Evil Willow down.

I'm thinking that the "Anne" scene mentioned also works and from the same ep (may even be part of the same scene) the one that always gets me a-whooping and a-hollering is the "I'm Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" bit.

I've just realised you asked for images, so I'm not sure mine count now...but they are defining moments for me.

Such a hard question, my first thought was "Chosen" with Buffys speach about her power being all the potentials power too and Willows spell that makes that happen. And yeah, that is a beautiful moment, where Buffy finally gets to change things for real, where she finally gets to share both the power and responsibility...

But I was also thinking about the last scene in "Lie to me", where Buffy and Giles are talking about growing up and how Buffy likes "to stop then". Because that's a lot what the show is about, growing up and realizing that life isn't simple.. I've always loved that scene.

mine would have to be primeval in season 4. when it was just the four of them doing the spell. shows that buffy would be nowhere without her friends and how much they love each other.

I'd definitely sasy the end of 'The Gift' when Buffy jumps off that tower. It's says so much about what being a slayer is all about, and it says a whole lot about the show too. That scene is just so powerful, it makes me wanna cry everytime I see it.

Definatley the end of The Gift. This is probably one of my favourite scenes in Buffy. It is so powerful and emotional, and it sums up Buffy perfectly.
