Personally I would have thought that the song, 'A Thousand Stars' by Billy Fury would be better. Although to give it that nice little twist have it sung by James Marsters.

I like the song a 1000 years from Twilight and reminds me of them because Angel was waiting a long time for Buffy and she was part of his future. It is applicable for sure.
