Clark Kent's true love
Dear friends:
I don't know if this is where this post belongs, but I really needed to write these thoughts down somewhere. On Tuesday, August 10, 2004, our family suffered an unexpected and traumatic loss in the family. My Grandmother died. On the Thursday before, August 5, 2005, my Grandma had surgery on her right shoulder because a few years before she had a bad fall and the muscle was severely torn. So she decided to have surgery done to see if it would relieve the pain. Well, unfortunately that's not how things turned out.
My Grandfather had taken my Grandma to get her checkup done. Well, she never made it to that appointment. This is my papa's account of what happened: She was in the parking lot of the Doctor's office, when my Grandfather had gotten her wheelchair and was getting ready to help my Grammy out of the car. When she got up to get on her wheelchair she just all of a sudden passed out. So they thought. Someone, I don't know who called the paramedics and they started to do CPR on her because her heart had stopped. Now mind you, my Grandfather and their little puppy Julie (Chihuahua) was watching all of this taking place. Anyway, they rushed her to the ER and the Doctors took over from there, doing everything in the book to revive my Grammy. To no avail, she had died instantly. We didn't know how until we found out from the coroner's office.
He told my Aunt Dorothy (Grammy's younger Sister) that a blood clot had formed from having the operation, and collapsed one of her lungs, then going from her lung and clogging an artery and her heart had stopped. That's why they couldn't revive her. Well, while all of this was taking place. My older Sister Michelle and I were doing a few errands to get some things for some kittens that we are going to get. We had just gotten done shopping at the dollar tree store and had just started walking up to Walmart when the cell phone rang. My Sister and I looked at the caller ID and it said unavailable. I told Michelle to answer it anyway, and if it was a creditor, just say that Mom wasn't there. Which she wasn't anyway, so we weren't lying. Well, my Sister and I stopped at the entrance when all of a sudden my Sister got a shocked look on her face and said: "What?!? Oh my God, oh no!" And the first thing that came into my mind was either my Grandpa or Grandma was in the hospital. I asked her what was wrong, she looked at me with tears in her eyes and she said: "Grandma passed away." I was totally shocked. I asked my Sister: "Grandma, as in our Grandma? Grandma, Grandma?" And she just shook her head. I didn't cry yet because the news hadn't really sunk in. I thought they had to have made a mistake, it wasn't my Grammy. Things like this don't happen to me.
Then I talked to my Grandpa who was crying on the other end of the line. We had dropped our shopping spree and called my Mom immediately. I didn't know how to tell her other than just saying: "Mom, I got some bad news. Grandma died." My Mom said: "What?!?" Then she burst out crying and kept saying: "No, it's not true, it can't be true. No, no. I don't believe it, it's not true." I had to calm my Mom down and tell her we're on our way and that I would call my Brother Lorenzo and let him know what happened. He got off of work early and we all drove up to the hospital to see my Papa.
When we got there, we we're getting ready to walk into the waiting room, when I noticed my Papa. I told Mom to look across the tiny street and we saw him by some people over at the bus bench. He looked like a tiny child. It was the saddest thing I've ever had to see in my entire life. As soon as I walked up to him, I burst into tears. I couldn't stop crying. I realized that it was true. My one and only Grammy was gone and I was never going to see her again. Even their dog Julie was sad and broken hearted. She still doesn't understand why her Mommy isn't home. I personally have NEVER lost anyone close to me in death. Only pets. I still don't know how to deal with it, or what to do or say. All I can think about it how I saw her that Saturday and was watching a movie with her. I keep thinking and feeling guilty because I didn't go see her on Sunday. I was supposed to watch a movie again with her and I didn't go. I also keep thinking all those times she wanted me to spend the night and I never did. Now I'll never get the chance to do anything with her that I wanted to. I feel like I took her for granted. I am lost without her. I would always call and talk to her about any problems I was having at home. I keep asking myself if I'll ever feel like myself again? She's always been a part of my life and now she's gone.
I don't know why I wanted to write this here, I just needed to get some things out. If any members or MODS feel this isn't appropriate, please feel free to delete this post. It just helps me to get this all out. I'm too drained to type anymore. I'll update you all more later.
Agape,
Rosie
P.S. If this thread offends anyone, or isn't considered a discussion and it ends up closed. Any of the MODS, please just delete it altogether. I got hassle about it on another forum and I just don't want to cause any problems.
