A Vampire Army

In Season 1, we saw the Master with a fairly large group of minions and a workable plan to, if not conquer the world, at least seize control of a fair sized chunk of it, and the only thing that ultimately stopped him was the inopportune arrival in Sunnydale of Buffy and the help that her friends gave her. He came close to succeeding. Dangerously close.

So, my question here is, why didn't some other master vampire take a page from his book, form their own army, do a little better in the planning and organization department, and try the same thing again later. Why did we never again see any single large group of organized vampires, or demons, for that matter, executing a focused, planned out attack on humanity, starting with Sunnydale? We did see, in the Wishverse, that it was not only possible, except for a bit of bad luck it was practically inevitable. So, why wasn't it ever tried again until Season 7, when the First Evil did it?

Hmm... All of the Big Bads seem to have a least a few minions of some kind or other, but it makes you wonder why the all of the bazillion minion-vamps seen over the seasons didn't try to band together and do something themselves.

You're right - it doesn't really make sense that nobody really ever made much of a move to try something bigger between those two Big Bads' attmpts.

I'm thinking that loyal minions are hard to come by. Unless the vampire leading them is more fearsome than the others I'm guessing its hard to stay in control. And Master Vamps seem to be pretty rare, as the only ones we've ever seen in all the seasons are Nest and Kakistos.

I was gonna say the same thing as [MENTION=11204]HalloweenRain[/MENTION]. I doubt that many vampires really care about teaming up either. Most seemed more focused on themselves and being evil on a lesser scale then ruling the world.

Because without a mystical macguffin like the Judge or Acathla or whatever the Hellmouth was supposed to do in Prophecy Girl (but oddly enough didn't do in The Wish) any vampire army will be wiped with incredible ease by modern weaponry.

I don't know if vampires dislike teaming up because we always see them haunting in groups about 4 or 5 when Buffy slays them. I think it's just the way that their demon inside doesn't like to get controlled by a "Master". They want to be free, are unable to work in big groups. It is hard work to keep a big group of vampires calm, to controll them. They are unpredictable.
