Why hasn't some enterprising vampire thought of opening his own blood bank? With the number of people in the country in strained financial condition, the idea of selling a pint or so a month for a nominal fee would be appealing. The vampire buys the blood, uses some for himself, sells the excess for a nominal profit, maybe takes on a few like minded partners, expands the business, branches out into other communities. They could even carry a line of cut rate assorted animal bloods for those vamps who couldn't afford the real stuff. With the new influx of Slayers flooding the streets, it would seem to be quite prudent for the undead community to seek out new, less risky, sources of nourishment.

Think of the advantages. The vampires no longer have to hunt, so neither they nor their potential victims are in any danger. People who need money have a new source of cash on a regular basis. Nobody has to die, no one has to be dusted. No confrontations between vampires and Slayers. A win-win situation, just as long as everybody cooperates.

Even if only a few vampires take advantage of the deal, that's still that many no longer posing a threat

I don't see this working for the simple reason that vampires have a 24/7 free buffet offered to them. I mean, if I was a vamp, and there was one chance in 6 billions, or nowadays one chance in maybe a few millions of encountering a slayer, I'd just take that chance. I would then feast on all the good food roaming the streets.

Plus, vampires get money by stealing it from humans, and they do that by usually killing humans. If they have money they have blood, so why make themselves any more obvious to the public.

Well, for one demons have the instincts built into them to hunt. They are predators, not businessmen. They have an inbuilt need to stalk and feed off of humans to satify their craving.

And in 'The Wish' we see The Master doing something similar to what you describe, taking out the hunting element to get at fast, convienient blood, so obviously some vampires can 'think outside the box.' 🙂

For me, I just think some sophisticated, older, more enterprising vampire has done this already in Europe somewhere, (remember there's a whole world of vamps out there that Buffy hasn't encountered, not just America. 😉) perhaps a very old vampire like the Master.

Ooh, now I'm liking the idea of a vampiric Elizabeth Bathory setting up something like this, an international bloodbank with minions and thralls and stuff. A worthy foe for Buffy and co to fight. 🙂

I like the idea, odd that.
Maybe Willow could have done that as home employment, and if the vampire didn't pay up on time, she could employ Buffy as a bouncer.
Sounds better than work at double meat palace, it might pay the bills and still leave time for patrolling.

I think most people have already covered it. Vampire actually enjoy the hunt, it feeds their nature.
