I was watching some Buffy season 6 today, ie flooded etc. And I was thinking...wouldn't it have been great to see Faith's reaction to Buffy dieing? I mean we know how Faith feels about her. Some of us think it's just a deep friend feeling and some of us think it's more. Either way, it had to hurt. Like we got to see Angel's face when he found out, I would have liked to have seen Faith's face and her reaction. Anyone with me?

Definitley....I would love to see how she took it. I read a really good fic about it before...I'll see if I can find it agian...it was really really good.

It would have been great to see, grief over Buffy's death since she was the only other person out there who she felt understood her or was like her, fear over being the new main Slayer and perhaps even relief that she no longer had to live in Buffy's shadow?

What I really wanted to see was the Councils reaction. Since Buffy was dead and the Slayer line seemed content to run though Faith and no new Chosen One was called, the Council was probably in an uproar and freaking out over Faith being the Slayer, maybe even coming up with a plan to euthanise her to bring about a new Slayer they could indoctrinate from scratch.

I'd love to read that 😛

I've always wondered how Faith would have reacted to buffys death..

I tried to find it but I can't seem to remember where I read it.

There's a fan fiction website called, I believe, "Faith and Buffy Home" devoted to the relationship between the two Slayers. There might be a story there, but I'm not sure. I would think that that would be a place to look, though.
I'm not sure. I mean, Faith was Rogue at the time, right? So, she wouldn't have really cared that much, I don't think, but I'm not sure.

Actually, that was during her incarceration, when she was trying to atone for her crimes, so, techniclly, it was past her Rogue stage.
I think she would have put on that face that she didnt care but deep down really would have, after everything that had happened.

Even rogue, she still had feelings for Buffy. Whatever feelings they may have been, they were deep.
Wasn't she on her path to redemption tho?

Yeah she was, she was in jail just over a year at that stage...personally I think it would have really torn up Faith for a lot of different reasons.

I think that Faith would have cared. ALOT. After all she has been through alot with Buffy. They did start off as friends but slowly that fell apart. Then Angel helping her and her helping herself changed her. Made her a better person. I think FAith would of been devastated for a couple of reason:

1. because Buffy was dead
2. she might of felt that she would have to fill her shoes as the Slayer
3. felt that the weight of the world was on her
4. she never got a chance to actually sit down with Buffy and express her feeling of how she acted in the past and the things she did.

And now that Im thinking......what if they kept Buffy dead a lil while longer and Faith was to return to SUnnydale to help out?? And she works alongside the scoobies?? Then they bring Buffy back some months later. Both Slayers there. FAith good.

Add to your list the feeling that, if they had still been friends and she had been there in the fight, she might have made a big enough difference that Buffy wouldn't have had to die.

A big burden on Faith would have had to be the knowledge that, with Buffy dead and herself locked away in prison, the Slayer's job couldn't be done, and the chances of another Slayer being called were nil as long as she was still alive' Sort of a "lose-lose situation."

True. I agree with that. So now im wondering what she would have done. Escape to be The Slayer or do you think Faith would killherself so the world could be protected by a new slayer being called

Well, we know that she could have escaped any time she felt like it, because she had no trouble doing it when Angel lost his soul in Season 4 of ATS, and there are very strict suicide watches in prisons, especially for "lifers," long sentence prisoners, and those on death row, so I'd say she was sort of waiting to see what happened. For all she knew there might very well have been another Slayer called when Buffy died. That whole "Slayer line" thing might never have been discussed with her.

I also would have liked to have seen Faith's reaction to Buffy's death. And while I strongly disagree that she even possibly could have had romantic feelings for Buffy (which seems to see what some people are implying) I do think she deeply cared for her, maybe even loved her in a way. I always got the idea she wanted to be accepted by Buffy and her friends but even when they were willing she was just so damaged she ruined her own situation. And even if she did carry around hard feelings along with some affection I think she cared enough about Buffy to be deeply affected by news of her death.

Would Faith have realised that she was the only Slayer? Weren't we as the audience the only ones that picked up on the fact that there was never a mention of a new Slayer. The Council couldn't have known that Buffy wouldn't have triggered another slayer. There's no literature on that because Buffy was the First slayer to have died and come back. There have never been 2. Faith surely wouldn't have known. Even if the information was there, Faith wasn't much of a reader.

Anyway, it would have been good to see her reaction. She could have had a prophetic dream about it. Although, thinking about that, it as never mentioned that Faith received those kind of dreams. It was always just assumed as the Slayer that she would.

In a book, that isn't canon, She studied/trained before she became a slayer for a little while. So she would have read alot about these sort of things before Sunny D. She wasn't going in completely blind.

Faith had the dreams in Go Ask Malice, which was about her back story and before she became a slayer. Even though it isn't canon, it still says she experienced them.

A couple of points:

1) The Scoobies went to great lengths to continue patrolling with the help of Spike and the Buffy bot, no doubt to fool the demon community into believing that the Slayer was still alive and slaying. Since the Watchers' Council was pretty much out of the loop as to exactly what was going on in Sunnydale, they might not have known that Buffy was, in fact dead. With the Slayer line going through Faith now, there would be no indication of a new Slayer being called anywhere in the world, so, unless Giles or Wesley told them, they didn't know. (Which was probably the luckiest thing for Faith, since the Watchers would have no doubt tried to eliminate her in order to activate a more tractable Slayer)

2) There are several stories concerning Faith's reaction to Buffy's death, as well as to her resurrection and and many other Buffy/Faith related stories, all family friendly, at the Fan Fiction Net. I don't know if the one Miss K was referring to is there, but it would be the first place I would try.

No it was a Bangel site...the fic centered around Faith and Angel but Buffy was the lost third character if you know what I mean. Angel is not dealing very well and he comes to collect Faith when she is left out of prison...I'm not selling it very well but it was a great read.

Okay, it was just a thought, A lit of different shippers contribute there and I just thought it might be a place to start. There are definitely some stories on that theme there, though,

Oh definitely but the Bangel section literally has thousands of fics...no way I would have the time to go through them all

In the Season 3 Enemies the Mayor points out to Angel in front of Faith:

Angel: Well, gee, sir, I thought I'd find that Slayer that's given you so much trouble and torture, maim, and kill her.
Mayor: Fine! You know it's nice to see you're not one of those slacker types running around town today. Torture Buffy. Killing her's fine, just make it a slow one.
Angel: My favorite kind.
Mayor: Wonderful, wonderful. We don't want a replacement Slayer anytime soon. They can't all turn out like my girl Faith. (Faith smiles) Have fun.

To me that always implied that the Mayor thought that with Buffy dead that would call a new slayer.
