he did, he was free during the wish , but i think once every thing went back to normal it was as if non of it never happened so he didnt know any of it, just like no one else did

The events of 'The Wish' are set in an alternate universe, one where Buffy never came to Sunnydale and the Harvest went off as planned, with The Master rising and gaining control of Sunnydale and the Hellmouth.
When Wishverse Giles destroyed Anyanka's amulet,rendering her powerless, her spell was also destroy and everything went back to normal, with Buffy and company alive and well in Sunnydale and The Master dead.
