Is it just me or is anyone else excited by this movie coming out? I can't wait and will defo see this at the cinema!

Has anyone read the book? I tried but my daughter trashed it before I could read much of it and what I did read was amazing 🙂

I'm definitely gonna watch it!
I haven't read the novel, but I think it's cool that it's Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter and not some random Vampire Hunter.
I know people who just hate movies that aren't historically correct, like, for example, Inglourious Basterds, but I love stuff like that.
Why shouldn't one alter the past in a fictional tale? After all, it's fictional. You can do with it whatever you want.

We don't know that this is historically incorrect. It might be non-fiction. :)
I was tempted to watch just because it's a Tim Burton film but seeing the trailer makes me want to see it even more! Also Alan Tudyk is in it!

Yes 😀 Alan plays Stephen A. Douglas 🙂

I was looking forward to it after seeing the trailers for the book ... now seen the movie trailer and knowing Tim Burton is behind it as well and Alan is in it is just awesome 🙂

This looks AMAZING! def going to see this when it comes out! So many good films coming out this year 🙂

I have to say that so far the only thing I like about the movie is that Alan is in it. The trailer did nothing for me, I don't care for vampires and I'm not a Tim Burton fan. If I watch it I hope to be happily surprised.

That is just my feeling so I hope that you that are looking forward to it won't be disappointed.

Not gonna see it. Or if I do, it won't be in theaters. I'm definitely not a fan of Tim Burton movies.

As for what you said, I am a history nerd and I like some movies that play with the real/unreal stuff. In fact, I love when they do movies about greek/roman gods and all. But sometimes when it doesn't fit with what has been told thousands of times before, it's not interesting.

For example, in Immortals there were only 5 Greek gods pictured, when in reality there were hundreds of them. I understand that they couldn't show them all, but they didn't even acknowledged the fact that the other gods existed.

Now the trailer of this movie is just not appealing enough to me. But then maybe when it's out on DVD/Blu-Ray I'll give it a try.

Well, that was actually my point. I haven't seen Immortals and I don't know what it's about at all, but if the filmmakers decide to only show 5 of the gods, then there are only five.
At least in their story. Of course it's always really problematic changing such essential things, but if they decide to pull it off, so be it.

But, after all, it's your opinion. I can understand that you, as a 'history nerd', don't like it when someone just messes up the things you like.
I'd hate it if someone made a movie about my favorite band and just left out my favorite band member or something (sorry, couldn't come up with better example 😱)

Anyway, I'm gonna watch the movie. The fact that it's Lincoln slaying the vampires makes it more interesting to me 🙂
For the history people, I recommend waiting for Spielberg's biopic Lincoln later this year.

I read the book when it first came out. Pretty good, except for yet another totally biased account of events prior to, during, and after the Civil War, otherwise known as the War Of Northern Conquest or the War Between The Yankees And The Americans (hey, I'm a Southerner. What did you expect?) Actually, there are several other books in the same...vein:

1) George Washington: Werewolf
2) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
3) Abrahan Lincoln: Vampire *
4) Little Vampire Women
5) Snow White and the Seven Dead Dwarfs (Zombies)
6) Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter

* Ol' Abe apparently both hunted 'em and joined 'em. Dang two faced Yankee. You just can't trust a single one!)

among others. It's practically a whole genre in itself.

As titles for film go, that is crap. It might mean something in America, but not to me.
Who is Tim Burton?

I keep asking that same question, and I AM an American.

I'm sure people thought/think the same thing about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

Abraham Lincoln was a badass, so it's no surprise that he hunted vampires on the side. Hell yes I will be seeing this movie. However, it's doubtful that I'll see it at zee cinema.

Wow, I better finish the book before the movie came out. The book is great. Especially the part where the Yankees win the Civil War. (Poor white avenger - hehehe)

I havent read the book and I'm not a huge fan of Tim Burton but I do want to see this film. I think it looks awesome. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the Civil War or Abraham Lincoln (I'm not that knowledgeable on UK history let alone other countries 🙂) so I'll not see what's been changed, other than the addition of vampires 🙂

New Movie Trailer

I just noticed that there's a new trailer for the movie.
Check it out:

I have listened to the unabridged audiobook 6 or 8 months ago, and thought that it was pretty good, the way that the author made actual history and his fiction mesh. It'll be interesting to see how Burton adapts (more likely "mangles") it into a movie.
