There is a tradition that has its roots in the old British military. After the battle is fought, those lucky enough to have walked away whole would gather and raise a toast to their friends and comrades whose memory would always be dear. That toast was "To Absent Friends."

Without naming names, without taking sides, without bitterness or anger, I think that it would be appropriate at this time that we all join together and wish our "special friends" peace and good fortune.
The Buffy Boards has lost valued members, and we, at least within the confines of this forum, have have all lost good friends. So...

"To Absent Friends, gone from our fellowship, but never from our hearts, this is to acknowledge our mutual loss and to bid you health and happiness wherever your paths may lead."
 
Can we have a 21-gun salute? With cannon? That would be awesome!

Good idea, btw. We will miss our friends.

Buffy Boards isn't the internet, its a tiny little section of it.
These 'absent friends' are easily contacted through other ways.

Its just drama after drama perpetuated by somewhat pointless highlights of the situation when in reality things just need to move on...

NancyBoyHairGel signed up on this version of BB as The First Evil or First Evil. I know because I picked the name!

I lost touch with her way back, before she graduated College, sadly. Last I heard she was working for LA City Council.

A toast for Sofia, wherever you are 🙂

In order to clarify my purpose in beginning this thread to those who seem to believe that it might be a bit overly dramatic or that I am somehow not aware of the fact that the absent friends referred to are, in fact, still completely alive and kicking elsewhere on the internet, let me clarify. Yes, I do realize those facts. However, as members of this board, as sparring partners with whom we can debate the eternal questions of Spuffy vs Bangel, ao Cangel vs Bangel, or even of astronauts vs cavemen, these friends are, indeed, lost to us. Certainly, we can remain in touch outside this forum, but here, they are indeed as lost to us. Lost, but, I hope, never forgotten.

I don't remember NancyBoyHairGel, what a cool name! I do remember Tucker's Cousin...and Comma....whatever happened to them?

I dont think Season 8 is actually 'canon' either but it makes due for alot of people! ha
