Why was Anthony Stuart Head/Giles absent most of the season? Was this done intentionally by Whedon or himself?
 
He left after Buffy died and then he came back when she came back but went again cause he felt he had no more to tell her, she could depend on herself..
 
Yes, thanks that I understand. But was there a real life reason that Anthony decided to temporarily leave the show? Or was it just because his character's storyline was heading a different place?
 
Anthony Stewart Head wanted to spend more time with his family in England, which is why he wasn't a regular in the last two seasons.
