Academic writing on Buffy...

Just wondering if anyone else has read any academic writing on Buffy?

One of my tutors at uni has written a really good book on the show, which was really interesting.

Strange reading something academic on something you've been so involved with so many years and never looked at from an academic/political view!

So yeah, anyone else read anything like that?

1/3 of my Master's thesis dealt with how to use Buffy to teach Literary Theory. I'm (sort of) working on a paper that's a psychological evaluation of Jonathan (mostly during "Superstar" but drawing on S6, too). I've applied to the school where David Lavery, co-author of Fighting the Forces: What's at Stake in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, works. I'm all over this. 😀

Ah awesome. The one I read is called Sex in the Slayer, I think she has a bit about Jonathan in there. It's makes some really interesting points, especially about Tara. I've seen a few others floating around on Amazon. It must be awesome to be paid to write about Buffy - although from what I hear academic writing doesn't rake it in like novels, but still!?

I haven't read that one, but I'm still collecting. If you only publish articles, you don't get paid at all, and I'm not sure about books, but unless you write something about something REALLY popular, no, there's not much money in it.
