Academy Awards

I'm glad that LotR won all those awards! Would have liked to have seen Johnny Depp get best leading Actor for Pirates of the Caribbean though! He was really good in that!

I'm with you...Johnny deserved the award. He was great playing Jack Sparrow.

LOTR rules, but Johnny Depp deserved an award,he should have got one

I loved Julia's dress. The Oscars were too predictable this year. At least Billy Crystal was a good host.

Me too. Also liked her hair. Still slobbering over Angelina Jolie though. Was I the only one impressed by Oprah Winfrey? I can't help thinking she did the best, with the least to work with.

I know. Time to brag. Did you check out my predictions on the first page. I picked the LOTR sweep, and all the others except Best supporting actress.

Yeah. He's the new Bob Hope. I love that intro thing he does where he spoofs the nominees. That Michael Moore joke had me doing a spit take. He's a good ad-libber too. "It's now official. Everyone in New Zealand, has now been thanked".

I've only seen Pirates and Last Samurai, I'm not really a big fan of the Lotr-hype. The first one was bloody aweful, waste of time, the second one was pretty good. Haven't seen the third one, but I doubt that it deserves more awards then American Beauty, Shawshank or even Titanic.

I was kind of rooting for Lost in Translation, though I haven't seen it, but from the promotional material I have seen and from Sofia Copolla's last film (the Virgin Suicides), I can tell, that I'll love this one.

Too bad the Dutch film didn't win.

Johnny Depp was fabulous in Pirates, but I was surprised he was nominated. His chances of winning were increased by winning the Golden Globes and SAG awards, but you know he never would've won an Oscar for that kind of movie. My question is: Did LOTR only win all those awards because the first two only won technical or did it win because it deserved it? I wish Pirates and Girl with a Pearl Earring won something.

Lord of the Rings is going to sweep. Wouldn't it blow your mind if it came to Best Pictue, and it lost?!!! It won't though.

Do you think we'll ever see a Buffy person at the Oscars?

Maybe Joss.

Is my memory playing tricks on me or did he not win something for Toy Story?

I was so mad that Johnny Depp didn't win. I think it'd be nice to see some Buffy/Angel peeps on there someday.

I really wished Seabiscuit would have won, but of course Lord of the Rings took best picture. Which is ok, I thought it was a very good movie, and I'm not even a huge LOTR fan.

Me and some friends watched the show on TiVO. We had a "guess the Oscar winners game" going on during the show, and we switched to a movie trivia game on DVD during the commercials.

Loved: LoTR's sweep, Angelina Jolie and Liv Tyler's fashion sense (those glasses!) and Mitch and Mickey.

Bored by: lots of other stuff.

(Missed only 2 Oscar winners all night, but finished only 3rd--we're good at this game.)

RE: Joss Whedon awards.

Oscar: 1995 Toy Story - Screenplay

Fennecus: 1995 Toy Story - Story and Screenplay

Apex: 1995 Toy Story - Original Screenplay
Apex: 1997 Alien Resurection - Adapted Screenplay

Also, regarding this thread, I thought that Charlize and Angelina (two of my favorite ladies) looked absolutely stunning and was pleased for Sophia Coppola.
