I've had acne off and on during my teenage years, it was never very bad though, until I was around 17, then it was fairly constant. Although I got off lucky because my brother had extremely bad acne - almost his entire face was just RED. But anyhoo, I'm going on 20 now, and I started using Proactiv this past December.

It's mostly worked, my breakouts are fewer and at the moment I only have a few small zits, but I have a lot of acne scars. From a distance it still looks like acne, sort of.

Does anyone know of any ways to reduce the scars? I'm considering buying skin lightening lotion but I don't know how well it works. I'm willing to try other methods, too.

One that helped me before, long time ago, is Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Vitamin E Scar Serum. But you only use it on the scars, not living zits. You may not like the smell though.

If you have enlarged pores, use ice pack or rinse your face with ice water in the morning. For the zits, and acne, kill them with a plain yoghurt mask. Hope this helps.

haha I'd love to see Randy Giles do that.
In fact when you come over in the summer, you must wear a Yoghurt face mask🙂

I used to use Proactiv. Acutally used it for about a year but in the end I gave it up because it was too expensive and really dried out my skin.

I use Nutrogena (however it's spelt) these days and for me it works pretty well. When I had really bad breakouts though my dad would get me to wash my face with epsom salts and warm water...you just mix them together then wash your face and don't dry it, once it dries on it's own you can wash the residue away.

As for the scarring, aloe vera works pretty well.

I agree, pimple and acne medications can dry out skin. My husband experienced that before. He almost ended up with excema instead.

Aloe vera is definitely good, just make sure you're not allergic to aloe vera. Oh about the yoghurt, I forgot to mention you just put it on the affected area itself overnight, not the whole face. lol

actually yes I know of something that works...not for me, I was blessed with near perfect skin but many of my friends have tried it and it works! Its kinda expensive but its a skin care line from BeautiControl. I use their products for other things and am convinced I should be their spokesperson...in fact all of my friends have become hooked as well because I rave about them so much! They actually sell a concealer with a medicated tip...you have no idea...PM if you want more information and NO I do not sell it myself...I really am just so sold on the products that I can't help but recomend them to everyone I know because they really do work!
