GILES: I'm sure Willow and Tara are making every effort.

XANDER: Oh, yeah.

BUFFY: Xander.

DAWN: Buffy, it's okay. I do know about this stuff. Besides, it's all kinda romantic.

BUFFY: No it's not!

And that's all I really have to say about it. I didn't see any build up in the 9-ish years we saw Buffy that she would even consider a lesbian relationship. That's the only point I was trying to make.

OK, I've stayed out of posting in this thread mainly because
I haven't read the comics BUT I wanna comment on the two references of OMWF and Yoko Factor.

The Yoko Factor.
Buffy was shocked by Willows life choice.
You have to take into account that Willow came out to Buffy and Buffy was completely shocked.
Its not just that Willow was gay it was the fact she had known Willow for 3+ years and in ALL that time Willow had expressed an interest in Xander, POSSIBLY Giles (friends can pick up on that and it wouldn't surprise me if during a girly sleep over it was mentioned) and the love of her life relationship with Oz.
Buffy's reaction is perfectly natural and something to be encouraged because it made them discuss what was going on.
The problem with this group isn't that Buffy has an issue with Willow being gay, its the fact they keep secrets.

OMWF.
I always took that 'No its not' comment to be about sex not same sex sex.
We've just had an episode where Dawn nearly has sex with a Vampire and she is only what, 15? 16?
Buffy doesn't want Dawn in that world, yet - lest we forget Buffy's first foray into it.
Buffy obviously has no residual issues with Willows lifestyle choice by the fact that she has no problem with the lovers staying in her house.


As for her lesbian thing.
Well the only real experience of a lesbian relationship is Willow and Tara and Willow and Kennedy.
I don't know much of Willow and Kennedy's relationship post chosen BUT from the time on screen, none of these relationships seemed destructive - Willows addiction to magic was nothin to do with her lesbian relationship and I believe Buffy is intelligent enough to know that - so when you compare it to her own sordid love life, its easy to see why she might cross the fence.
As they say, the grass is always greener.

Does this mean she is a lesbian?
No.
The fact she has had sex with a woman and a man does, on a technicality make her bisexual BUT as I have said many tmes, Buffy will be whatever she chooses to define herself.
I do think, however, this is totally in character for Buffy.

She doesn't have to be gay Buffy or Bisexuel Buffy or straight Buffy...she should just be Buffy

Before I lose my train of thought, I just wanted to say that SMG may not read the comics for the same reason I don't call my ex-coworkers from 6 years ago to see what the new guy is doing in my old position. It's a job, I rocked it for many years, I was good at it, my colleagues and I made a winning team, I had a lot of laughs, even some tears, learned some stuff, taught some stuff, and now it's been over for quite some time and I can look back with fond memories while I'm moving on with life. And, it's all good. I'm cool with it.

I know it's not exactly like that. SMG, busy, Hollywood celeb, la la la. But, in my head, there are enough similarities that it works for me. 🙂

Having not read any of the comics since the one where Buffy and Satsu first ended up in bed together I can't comment on their further experiences, but from what I've read in this thread I'd say that whilst Satsu might be an out and out lesbian, I think Buffy should now be classed as Bi.

I stand to be corrected here of course considering what I'm about to say is total conjecture on my part - again - I haven't read any of the comics for a while... Buffy hasn't rejected men as sexual partners (has she?) - she still finds men attractive but at this point in her life she's found that a woman's touch gives her more of what she wants at that exact moment than a man could. Satsu and any other women Buffy may have slept with (if there have been any) know as women do, just where to touch and what to do to another woman to give her pleasure in extremis - whereas a fumbling male such as myself would have to pushed and cajoled into finding the right 'spot' to generate that same sort of experience.

People's opinions of things change over time - whilst once upon a time Buffy might have thought that Willow and Tara's relationship was a bad thing ala OMWF, she's had to reflect since then, she's experienced things herself that she would never have thought about doing and trying new things is the zest of life. It changes your out-look on life, the way you think, the way you act, the way you look at other people, and perhaps even the way they look at you. One simple word given to the right person at the right time can change your life in ways you'd never dreamt possible.

In my opinion, Buffy's currently enjoying the roller coaster experience that her sex life has become and as Forest Gump did and more importantly, might have said: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." and "Bi is bi, you get the best of both worlds, just don't be greedy."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all men are crap lovers and all women should turn gay or bi - I'm just re-iterating what a bi friend of mine says about her female lovers as opposed to her male ones.
