Adam and Frankenstein

Have anybody ever realized how the monster in Frankenstein is like Adam.

Similarities

-both created by a scientic
-technicly both created by female (author Mary Shelley)
-both killed a little boy
-have a very mild understanding at first of human life and humain beings
-both very weird looking, tall and scary
-both very strong and capable of killing
-both made of narcotic tissu
-both wanted to make a second monster (the monster in Frankenstein wanted a wife and Adam made Forest a monster)
-almost unbeatable
-they both ended up in some way killing their creator

difference

-Adam was put to life and was already smart and new how to talk, not the monster
-Adam was created evil, the monster became evil because of society
-the monster is very much human looking, not Adam

I've just realize how many similarities their was after reading the book Frankenstein for my english course. I never really made a very defenite link between them before but now a lot more.

Any thought on the subject??

He always reminded me more of the Terminator than Frankestein. I guess he has a sort of demon-robot hybrid charm that is on the same level as the Terminator's 'I'm an Austrian robot from the future'-charisma.

You know though, that he was actually based on Frankenstein though, right.
You really only just saw that parallel hun? I find it quite obvious.

Especially that scene with the boy, on Adam's first leaving of the Initiative (IIRC, "Goodbye Iowa") is a very clear homage to the classic Frankenstein movie version with Boris Karloff as The Monster. (With the difference, of course, that Karloff's Monster - in the uncut version of the movie, at least - kills the little girl accidentally while childlike-ly playing with her, and Adam coldly kills and dissects the boy in his pursuit of knowledge.)

Also, I don't know if this is in Shelley's original novel (which I coincidentally have lying in my current stack of books out of the library, but haven't yet read it - will be my first time to read the original), but in several adaptations - including the Marvel Comics version, which I'm almost certain Joss knew 😎 - Frankenstein's Monster himself goes by the name of "Adam".

well, before I read the book the only Frankenstein I new was the big green giant that wasn't that bright lol

Frankenstein's monster is never actually named. At one point, while berating Frankenstein, he says "I should have been your Adam," but that's the closest it ever comes.

ah ah, I guess I'm the only slow one here. The only Frankenstein I new was the ones you saw in cartoon that was really stupid and green and had those things in his neck. I only realized the similarites while reading the original book by Shelley. And the funniest thing is that it was probably my favorite book to date, maybe because it remended me of Adam 😛

lol, I read the book like 10 years ago, but I was so scared.

In my opinion, Frankenstein's is much, much more dumb tham Adam. But you're so right, they have things in common. I think Joss was inspired by Frankenstein's to make Adam. But weird, when I watch BtVS with Adam scenes, my mom and friends always like "What's this? A terminator?". ^^
