Get 'Self-Obsessed' With New Comic Webseries

'Empire's' Adam Busch and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer's' Amber Benson co-star in Sina Grace's autobiographical series based on his Image Comics graphic novel.

The struggle to make it as a comic book creator who isn't interested in making, in his words, "meta-superhero-sexcapades-on-ice" is at the heart of Sina Grace's Self-Obsessed, a comic book adaptation with a difference, and The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive first look at the trailer.
The five-part series, which begins later this month, is based on his 2015 graphic novel memoir about life, love and (the lack of) work in Los Angeles. New episodes will be released each Tuesday on Grace's YouTube channel.
Written by and starring Grace, the series also features the Upright Citizens Theater Brigade's Jon Gabrus andBuffy the Vampire Slayer alumni Amber Benson and Adam Busch (Empire). The series is directed by Daniel Freedman, with music from acts including Feels, Nick Diamonds and Colleen Green.
The web series is just part of a Self-Obsessed push from Grace, whose artwork has previously appeared in Image's The Li'l Depressed Boy and Burn the Orphanage, as well as collaborations with musician Jenny Lewis and filmmaker Cameron Crowe; he'll also be creating new Self-Obsessed comics for digital release later this year.
Additionally, he plans to promote the series via appearances at this month's WonderCon in Anaheim, Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con and this summer's San Diego Comic-Con, with a screening tour also planned.
