DEAR GOD! I just got a new PC and now I have Adobe Photoshop on it. I've seen all the great wallpapers and banners on the net and figured I'd start trying. Anyway I'm just messing about trying to make a wallpaper and the thing is just so damn hard! I can't use anything on it. I can't even put writing down on top of the picture. Can anyone tell me how they learnt to use it? Or answer some of these questions?

When you paste something onto your picture in Photoshop how do you move it?

How do you change the size of the picture you put in?

To make the picture smaller just reduce the image size before you copy it in the image section

to move it select the level and the pointer tool and the paste should move when you drag it

but as to your quesitons

1) how to move and image within a canvas: once the image is inside the desired canvas go to the tool bar on your screen and there shuold be a button with an arrow and a cross next to it click it and use that arrow to drag the iamge anywhere on your canvas

2) how co change the size of an image: the best way is to go to the cavas window tag (the blue bar with the minimize/maximize/cloes buttons on it) and right click a dropdown menu will appear click on "image size" and a window pops up change the size to what you want. (there is also a button that allows you to change one dimention either widith or height and it changes the other width or height to the same persentage)

3) how put text on a canvas: on the main tool bar there should be a button shaped like a 'T' click it and then click and drag on to your canvas a dotted box should appear with a text curser on it and once that appears you just type what you want. (you can move the text once youve written it by using the moving cuser i explained in question one)

Thank you. I've figured out the letters and moving the pictures around. But I still don't get the image resizing. Where is this blue bar that you are talking about? There is no blue bar on my screen and I've done some looking around and still can't see a blue bar. Not even sure what a canvas windows tag is. Any help will be really appreciated. a canvas is just a blank image there are a few differnt names for them (images, cavas's, workspaces,) and what i mean bu the tag areas is htis

if you look where it says "Untitled-1.jpg 100% (its gray on that picutre but its usally blue) if you just right hand click there. you should get the little dropdown menu and image size should be on it

Thanks Niobe. Is there anyway I can make a picture smaller without it having that squashed up look?
