My sweet girl, Wishing Oceans, no matter what the people voted, we are talking about what "Buffy" herself said. A sex scene is a sex scene. But the bite scene was more than that! You can leave everything to imagination...oh someone stop me!!!

.

You can imagine everything but the fear in Buffy's eyes when Angel bit her. This is a girl who has already been killed by a vampire once. Do you honestly think that she wanted to die again? And, before anyone comes back with hoe "erotic" Angel feeding on her became, that happens every time someone is bitten by a vampire. (Didn't you notice the guy who Angel bit on the submarine in "Why We Serve?" That was sheer sexual ecstasy he was going through there at the last. Why do you think that he carried a torch for Angel for all those years. He didn't want to be just a one bite stand. Angel left him feeling used and discarded. He broke the poor guy's heart.)

Why do I have the feeling you always wanna make Angel kind of gay?
Ahem...

Boreanaz

I really believe that Angel's heart is with Buffy. I've always found the Angel Cordelia relationship a bit strange, but it worked. There was chemistry there, but not the way it was between Angel and Bufly. I think the Angel-Cordy relationship was just a mirror to what the Angel-Bufy relationship was to him. -Oct 2003

IS HE BUFFY's TRUE LOVE? "Yes. I don't see anything else beyond that relationship. We know they'll end up together." - Tv-Guide

WHAT CLICKED? [about Buffy and Angel] "They're both champions. They connect whether in the middle of a battle, an argument or at the height of passion."

"That would be the ultimate, to become human and ride off into the sunset with Buffy."

Q: "Your official verdict: What did it mean that Angel said Buffy's name during dream sex with Cordy?"
DB: "I think we've established that his one true love is Buffy, obviously. So, when that occurred, it was a testament to his feelings. It's not the sex that makes him happy; it's the feeling. He can have sex, but he can't be truly happy." Eonline chat 2003

David tries to explain why Angel leaves Buffy and he goes in to Angel voice. "I can't be around Buffy because it’s just to … doesn't work, the chemistry." He stops.
Q. “Because you love her so much?”
David in Angel voice, " I love her TOO much, you know, I have to pull myself away from her."

Of course, he always will stay true. She's his one true love, definitely. There is a story that's going to be told between the two of them some day. For now, time and space is what's needed!"

It's not like Angel is ever going to get over Buffy, but he won't be whining about her every episode. She'll just be the specter of his one true love

Gellar

"Buffy and Angel's relationship is love in it's truest and most pure form

"It was interesting when they first said that David was going to get his own show. I was so excited for him, watching how he's grown since he started on the show as his first real job. Maybe I was getting too comfortable with David. What an exciting adventure now, for both my character and myself, and for David and his character, but I have to tell you as an actor I miss him immensely. Every time they try and bring someone new in for Buffy, all I can think is, 'but it's not Angel!'. I'm not really sure what we're going to do now. We just did an interesting episode where Buffy spent the summer moping over her boyfriend -- like everybody who loses their first love -- and then this cute sophomore in college ask her out and she's so excited and he says all the right things and does all the right things and she sleeps with him on the first date and then he dumps her. I ran into Joss' office, screaming, 'Buffy would never do this! All this history with Angel -- this is WRONG!' And Joss said to me, 'Sarah, try going to college. This is what people do and this is how they learn and these are the mistakes they make', and that is exactly what Buffy is going through. Right now she's trying to convince herself, like most young girls do, that she needs to get away from the bad guy and find a nice, solid guy, but she's terrified that without that fire and intensity and passion that she would step all over a nice guy because she'll be bored. I think Angel is her true love and I don't know if she can ever find love like that again. I just did my first cross-over episode with Angel and it was an amazing experience and one of the best episodes we've ever done..."

"In my opinion, Buffy and Angel should be together forever, but I understand for storytelling purposes, it's not to be. Angel is Buffy's true love. They have something you can never repeat. I mean, I understand it when people say nothing is ever the same after your first true love. They were soul mates. And Riley and Buffy were at different stages in their lives; they were different people. Buffy never loved Riley the same way she loved Angel

When he bites her and she's writhing on the floor, in her full orgasm she breaks the table. They missed it. The most erotic thing I've ever seen on TV, and the censors missed it completely."

I think deep down Buffy will always love Angel and she will never love anyone the way in which she loves him."

I believe that Angel is her true love, and I believe she will never love anyone the way that she loves Angel. Will she fall in love again? Ya know, in her mind she thought she had fallen in love with Riley, even though it wasn't what it was supposed to be, but nothing will ever be Angel. And um, I'm hoping, at some point, they find their way back to each other. We'll have the Buffy Angel hour, we'll have two-hour episodes every week and I'll never go home at night, we'll go on forever."

"I don't think that Buffy will ever accept anyone in the same respect as Angel. I don't know if the audience ever will. And I don't know if I would

"I think Buffy's great love is Angel (who now has his own series) and it always will be," says the 24 year old star. "She and Spike are having great sex, but she's not ready to settle down."

Q: "When the show ends, would you be upset if Joss didn't pair up Buffy and Angel again?"
A: "I would be terribly upset, but Joss doesn't necessarily believe in happy endings, so it probably wouldn't happen anyway. I'm not getting my hopes up."

Sarah getting angry at the producers during season 6: "I ran into the producer's office screaming 'Buffy would never do this, with all her history with Angel! It's wrong!"

DreamWatch: Do you think Buffy loves Spike or is it just good sex?
SMG : "I think its 20-something really good sex! I think Buffy was greatly in love with Angel. It will always be Angel. Nothing in her life will ever compare to that. Then she fell in love with Riley. She went from the dark, brooding guy to the good guy, the guy who would protect her, and it didn’t work. She let him down, essentially. So what’s the next logical step? The bad guy! She’s supposed to be with the bad guy. What she’s learning is, there are no rules and that you can be in a relationship with someone, even though they’re not your true love or the one you’re meant to end up with. And there’s nothing wrong with that!"

"My reunion with David Boreanaz makes this final Buffy episode extra special!"

My work here is done.

Also, David was starring in the show "Angel" and they had to shoot season 3 where Angel "falls in love" with Cordy...what did you want him to say? that he hates Cordy??? or that he doesn't believe in Cangel? Also if you check what David said...he also has said that he never understood the thing about Cordy and Angel...I am not saying they don't have lots of chemistry!I like watching David and Charisma together...but not Cordy and Angel! Same thing for Sarah...She had to support the damn affair called Spuffy despite the fact she hated it.

According to you, she said that she didn't support it. 😀 Therefore, your theory is SQUASHED!!!! 😀

I will say that none of the actors approved of the Season SIX Spuffy relationship, or at least the relationship from Smashed up. But I've never heard a one of 'em complain about the season 7, 5, or 4 relationship, and you have to judge the relationship as a whole, not by one individual season. 😀

I win. 😀

Hon, you do realize that some of those quotes were from the writers, and NOT SMG/ DB, right? I've read them before, and some are from like Doug Petrie or someone. 😀

Besides. A lot of those were said before Spuffy or Cangel was even an IDEA. Obviously they would like Bangel more than Briley. 😀

ummm...where did you see that I said Sarah didn't support it! look at what Kean posted...

No, these ones are from DB/SMG, however, there ARE comments from the writers on the website, these ones though are from the actors
While I acknowledge the fact that these quotes are, well, disheartening to us Spuffies, never fear. We will never back down. We love Spike and Buffy. We see something special and extraordinary in them. That is our interpretation. We don't care if SMG, DB, or anyone else for what matter doesn't believe Buffy will never love anyone like she loved Angel.

*walks away, head held high, waving the Spuffy flag higher than EVER*

And of course, we all know Doug Petrie SUCKS. 😉

And your last point is a great one. Some of the writers have changed their mind since they said those things. Sure, Joss said B/A "transcends everything" but he also said "Buffy loved Spike". So, I guess there's a contradiction there. Basically, if the Bangels are going to take what Joss says about Bangel as final say, then they should ALSO accept what he said about Spuffy, many quotes of which I've posted in previous threads on the subject.

Regarding Cangel - DB said it worked, and that there WAS chemistry, but that Angel was trying to replicate with Cordy what he had with Buffy. I think there could be some truth in that. What do others think?

I admire you girl, Becky for your courage! Like you raise your flag we will raise our own and hold it proudly! 🙂

I believe that Sarah had enough pull on the show that, if she was so all opposed to the Spuffy relationship, she could have gotten it changed or eliminated completely, just like she did Buffy's relationship with her father.

I don't really think she had much of a choice

Ok, you need to back up that father claim and also I disagree that she had enough pull to do anything like you suggested. If she did, Angel and Buffy would have gotten their happily ever after, which is made clear to be her wish for Bangel in her comments.

OK, SMG did NOT hate Spuffy. She felt the balcony scene was OOC, but other than that, as she says in the above quotes, there was "nothing wrong" with Spuffy's sexual relationship, AT ALL.

Did you know it was SMG who ORIGINALLY suggested Spuffy in Season 4? Sarah loved James. She was the one who convinced Joss to hire him in the first place.

And sadly, actors have little say in the direction their characters go. Actors are basically puppets. They say the lines that were written for them. They have make suggestions, but that's about it. James has stated on numerous occasion he didn't like how little lines Spike got in the earlier seasons, and he said he disliked the direction they took Spike in in the later seasons.

My lovelies, I've recently, like, two seconds ago, had an epiphany:

I DON'T FREAKIN' CARE IF BUFFY, OR ANYBODY ELSE, LOVED SPIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.... There. I said it. 😀

Spike did SO much more Buffy, and he did it all selflessly. THAT'S what makes me love Spuffy. Maybe she loved him, maybe she didn't. But it simply doesn't matter, because NOTHING will change my opinion of the 'ship. 🙂

Their journey. In the beginning he was nothing to her. In the end, he meant everything to her.

Her heart, which was so guarded after Angel left her, and her fire as a slayer which she lost when she came back....

Spike gave her back her passion, her fire.

He was able to break down her walls, and taught her to love and trust again.

He taught her about herself and helped her discover what she wanted and what her place in the world was.

Spike earned her love in ways Angel can't imagine. Whether or not he received his earned love doesn't matter, although I do think that he did. 😀

He gave up EVERYTHING for her. He's always going to love her. And she's always going to remember how nobody ever really loved her like Spike did.

Whether or not Buffy loved him is merely an argument, not an actual integral part of loving the 'ship, IMO. She SAID she did, and I believe her, but if she was lying, then I'll still love the 'ship for the fire, the passion, and the beauty that it represents. Always and forever.

Remember, as the quote goes: The man who meant nothing to her suddenly began to mean everything to her. 🙂

Always and forever... 😀

OK, I love all you guys, but I must go off to bed, so I'll continue this debate tomorrow. 😀

I APPROVE!!! :D Preaching to the choir my friend. :D
Who cares if SMG preferred Angel or Spike? She's not Buffy; she just plays her on TV. As far as I'm concerned, what SMG liked or didn't like doesn't matter any more than what anyone else does. JMO 🙂

Maybe. But as Joss, and Flanny, and many Bangels like to say, "trust the tale, not the teller." 😀

We do trust the tale and it has been a predominantly Bangel affair from the beginning and continues to be right up to this very day, so I'll quite happily trust the tale, it hasn't seen me wrong yet.

Bangel FTW!

Hah, whatev, I don't actually particularly want Spuffy to win anyway... So take that! 😀

I'm rooting for Spangel to be the final Spike- 'ship, whether they're actually dating or not. I just want 'em together, like in the old days. 😀

Buffy can go out without a man or a woman at her side, but with the scoobies. The core four. The only ones who never left. It's only fitting that they should all go out with only each other, seeing as friendship, particularly THEIR friendship, is the greatest love of all. 🙂

First of all, I would like to take the opportunity here to thank all of the Board members who cast their votes for me for the Giles Award, called by some the "know-it-all" award. I am truly humbled and grateful for your support and endorsement. That said, I think that it is only appropriate that I make this statement here as the recognized authority on the subjects discussed here on the Buffy Boards.

BUFFY LOVED SPIKE THE MOST!!! Nah, nah, nah, nah, nahhhhhhh. That comes from the accepted expert on the subject. Live with it.

Okay, now that I've said that, you can go back to your discussion.

I'd like to test that know-it-all theory

Since we are bringing awards and the authority they lend to us here on the board into this discussion I have to step in and over-rule you. As the most avid shipper on BB I have last say and with that power I hereby declare that,

BUFFY LOVES ANGEL AND NEVER EVER LOVED SMELLY YELLOW HAIRED SPIKE.

That is all.

Please continue with your regularly scheduled discussion.

Miss K, I have never doubted your dedication to the Bangel relationship. No one who has ever read anything that you have written here on the subject possibly could. I think that you have mis-understood the term "Avid," though. It doesn't mean that you support the RIGHT relationship, just that you support it very enthusiastically. Nice try, though.

And, by the way, how do you know how Spike smells?

I trust the panel of judges of this board enough to know that they couldn't get behind the WRONG ship, no matter who was shipping it. I'm right, you're wrong, Bangel wins, Spuffy loses :eviltongu

Buffy told me he smelled, big reason why she could never love him. Can't say I blame her, he looks smelly! 😛
