Does anybody think that the Buffy image that Willow and Tara see in their bedroom is actually the first? Because the demon that they created was possessing everybody. Buffy was not possessed...she was sleeping. When the Buffy image threw the glass at them their was nothing that could be found. The first can not actually physically touch anything. There are pieces to this puzzle that can be matched pretty easily here.
 
I don't think is was The First, although it is an interesting theory. I think it was the demon doing an hallucination or something trying to rile the gang up.
 
I also don't think it was the first. I think that the demon was trying to scare them into giving out the information that it needed to remain in this dimension. Which later they did.
 
We know the First was interested in Buffy et al from at least "Amends". Its possible...
 
Interesting theory, and it could be possible...but I don't think it was the first...I don't think they would put the first in that episode and not elaborate on it being there...so I doubt it was the first...
 
They made Buffy so eerie though. We knew the first was pissed that Willow did that spell to bring back Buffy. The first could have just made an appearence and then followed through with its anger in season 7.
 
Hmm...it is interesting. I never really thought of that before though. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I don't think it was the First though, although it could have very likely been the First because of the reasons that you pointed out.
 
It is very possible it was the First. It will be just like it to play with their insecurities and emotions. Then again it could be something related to that demon/being that followed Buffy.

i made the mistake of watching this eppy before i went to work this morning... i go to work at 4 AM... and i walk aroundf out side in the dark, and those eyes.. UGH

but you raise interesting points people! i had not looked at it like that!! i accually came in her to say i was scared at the beging of the ep cause the events that happend was so scary, but at the end i was disapointed cause .. what was that IT??? but if it was the first it makes sense, maybe it used the demon as a channle, or as an way to plague them?

I just watched this episode an hour ago. Tara says in the episode that the demon either takes over bodies (Xander, Dawn and Anya) or manifests itself as copies of original people (Buffy) because it doesn't have solid form. I think that pretty much sums it up. I don't believe it was the First, just a manifestation of Buffy, whom the demon chose to copy at that moment.
 
That's a good point, but I don't think it was The First. It would be rather awkward and almost impossible to tell if it was or not.

By all means, it most definitely could be but I highly doubt it. I'm really not sure though, maybe it was an imagery brought from guilt or maybe it was in fact the demon thing they brought back.

It's a hard one to shake but I doubt it was The First.
