Bryan Lynch stepped up to talk about "Angel." There are 6 more issues of "Angel: After the Fall," then 3 more issues of "Spike: After the Fall." Issue 16 of "Angel" will see "an explosive finale."

The book will return in 2009 as "Angel: Aftermath," which will further continue Angel's struggles. More stories involving the brooding vampire are slated for the future, including 2009's Lynch-penned "Angel: Blood and Trenches," about Angel's exploits during World War I.

Atleast now we know that After the Fall isn't the end =D

Most important question though... is it canon? If not, I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy it. Sure, I love Lynch' work, but if it's not canon, the stories just don't really matter.

Though, if the book returns, but under a different name, then it should still be canon. I mean, otherwise it'd be a new book?

If it's a new title that numbers its issues starting with 1, then I would call it a sequel rather than a continuation, and then I'd want some kind of confirmation that it's canon.

What pains me is that all these wonderful ideas, like Angel during WWI, could be nothing more than glorified fanfic.

With how well canon Angel sells I'm pushing towards atleast one of the new books being official.

I've just finished reading Angel issues 8-10 and have actually enjoyed them for once. They've explained a few things and the future issues sound good! Looking forward to them.

According to Joss Whedon's site, Aftermath will be #17 after After the fall # 16. Blood/Trenches will be a separate mini series.

Aftermath is going to be written by fantasy novelist Kelly Armstrong, with Brian Lynch joining her later on.

Blood and Trenches is done entirely by John Byrne.

I doubt it. If they wanted to do a story like that, WWII would have lent itself for that much better. (Apart from the fact that we already know a little bit about what Angel did back then.) In WWII you could point and the Germans, Italians, and Japanese and say they were evil.

In WWI, you can't really point out one side and say they're the bad guys. And without a clearly defined bad guy, you can't have an Super-Soldier-Hero. I suspect the story won't be very black and white in its morality.

Angelus was cursed with his soul in 1898. So during WWI, he was Angel.

i think it wold be foolish not to have the comics canon because u will make more money with a canon story than a non-canon

Well, obviously, IDW will want these comics to be canon, but that decision isn't up to them... it's up to Joss. And he doesn't care about their profits, but about the quality of the story... at least, we hope.

On the message board of this own website John Byrne revealed some details about Blood & Trenches. He will be both writing it and doing the art. There will be four issues. He will be doing something unique with the colouring. Here's some concept art for one of the characters:

Yes.

Limited. It'll be a 5-6 volume single story arc. As you can probably guess from my bio above and signature below, I'm not dying for work 😀 But the great thing about success is that every now and then a dream opportunity like this one comes along, and I couldn't turn it down.

What is Joss Whedon's input in the story?

The story will be approved by him.

Ah, there's the question and the answer is...it depends. It will follow from the events of Angel: After the Fall, it will continue that storyline and subsequent storylines will follow from it. So, yes, it's considered canon. That said, though, I know to many readers, if it didn't come from Joss Whedon himself, it's not canon, and I'm fine with that. If readers don't like my contribution to this amazing universe, they're free to dismiss it as some kind of alternate reality blip in the series. Just pretend it never happened. :lol

IDW Publishing announced that you are going to join Brian Lynch in writing the sequel to their official continuation of the Angel TV Series.

I should clarify this. Brian is writing a separate story arc. Both will continue the series from the TV show (and After the Fall), but they are separate stories, so if readers do decide my contribution is a "best-forgotten alternate reality blip", the blame will fall solely on me, unfortunately...
