Has anyone caught the first couple of episodes of this?
I thought it was excellent considering that it's both a spin-off of a film and a prequel to another television series.
It was wittily written with some sharp (and period appropriate) dialogue, smartly plotted, and at 8 episodes in length I don't think it's going to have any pacing problems.
The writers don't have to pack in any sub-par filler episodes, every one of them should hopefully be tightly focused.
I also enjoyed Hayley Atwell's return as Agent Peggy Carter, intelligent, tough, and capable, yet frustrated at being religated to filing jobs in the office.
Liked Dominic Cooper's return as Howard Stark, needing Peggy's help to clear his name (I wonder if this is the start of a Hydra frame job?) and stop his experimental 'comic book' inventions getting into the wrong hands.
I was also surprised at how many familiar faces there were here from other tv shows I've seen recently-
Shea Whigham from 'Boardwalk Empire, Lyndsy Fonseca and Chad Micheal Murrey.
James D'Arcy as Jarvis and Enver Gjokaj as Sousa were both likable male couterparts to the majority of 'period correct' male chauvanists that were present everywhere.
Maybe I'm a bit bias because I do have a weakness for this time period - anything from the roaring twenties to post-WWII (I'm very much enjoying the return of 'Foyle's War') but I'm looking forward to future episodes of this and would highly recommend it. 🙂
