Did anyone see this movie, and did you like it?

I saw it two days ago, I was dragged into it, and it's really not the type of movie I would normally watch, but i thought it was pretty good.

standard mainstream cash in bollocks.

i've seen long term alien fans wheaping in the streets. everythingi hear is how it is clinically rubbish.

mind you i could have said that after hearing the title. 😉

Yes I saw it last night and was really disappointed. I mean really disappointed.

It was also very short. 1 hr 40 mins. The movie was ending and I was thinking 'ok where the heck was the Alien VS. Predator?'

I'm still glad I saw it but man..they Hollywoodized that movie to hell. A shame considering how great the Alien Trilogy was (I'm purposefully leaving out Alien Insurrection - that one didn't count!) and the first Predator was.

Alien RESURRECTION, my love 😉

Actually, I kinda liked it-does that make me Hollywoodized too? LOL What do you mean when you say that? What parts were hollywooded? ELABORATE 😀😛

LOL DOH!!! You know I only saw this movie for the very first time on Friday night...hehe. I had always given it a miss. It's Star Trek Insurrection I think, which I also just watched last week for the first time. 😀

Nothing wrong with liking it! I don't think it was a bad movie. I was just such a HUGE fan of the Aliens Trilogy...(I was obviously rooting for the Aliens!!!) 😀 that I was disappointed - I had such high hopes for it. I would definitly watch it again...I will rent it when it's released on DVD. I wouldn't do that if it were bad!

The reason I felt it was Hollywoodized (lol) was because
there wasn't much fighting between the Alien and the Predator...and I mean the title is Alien vs. Predator! And also there is no way that chick should have survivied!!! But someone decided the Predator needed a buddy....and not only does she manage to kill an alien...but she disposes of the queen too...and then it just ends with her out there in the middle of nowhere, where I'm assuming she froze to death 😉 I did like the very ending though....that rocked! It's going to be a Predalien!!!!! 😀

EDIT - also, there were too many plot holes for my liking:

like the gestation period for the aliens..it was like 20-30 minutes for them to go from face-sucking babies to fully-grown aliens..when we know from the first two movies that that process usually takes many hours (like 15 or so). And we know that the Alien blood isn't toxic after it oxodizes...yet Scar Predator is able to burn a mark on Lex's face from the hand he had on his belt. If they are going with the blood is still acidic even after the alien is dead...then the fact that she was able to use his head as a sheild (and that Scar was able to cut it off with a knife and it didn't melt it away) doesn't make sense.

I can see your points. Thing is, it takes me a couple of times of seeing a movie like this before I really start to pick it apart, so those thoughts hadn't popped up yet. Plus, I hadn't seen the first two Alien movies in years, and I'd never seen Predator until AFTER this movie. But, thinking back, I can imagine how it could be a pain to a big fan.

BTW, LMAO at
predalien!!!

LOL. I know..I guess I've just been a fan of both Alien and Predator for so very long.....going back to the 80s.. 🙂 OMG you have to read this....again I didn't think it was bad and do want to see it again...

First off: The action scenes other folks have lauded were horrendous. The entire film was apparently shot in Ridlin Vision. Each fight-scene is a quick succession of ultra-fast zooms on either an Alien or a Predator, intercut with some generic squelching noises, which are either meant to represent stabbing, or an ancillary character making an orange smoothie. I'm not sure which. Good fight scenes allow you to see the action in a stylish fashion (ala the first Matrix or anything by Kurosawa); these didn't. At all. It was like watching a fight scene while being repeatedly bludgeoned with a frying pan. You simply cannot comprehend what the **** is going on. I wanted to repeatedly scream "Do the Dew" during every fight, but was laughing too hard to execute this plan. Did you know that there are facehuggers in the Matrix? Well, there are.

The dialogue was SO bad, it didn't even gel with itself, for God's sake. The people get to the pyramid via this enormous frozen tube the Preds cut with some kind of Death Star beam (never explained), they comment on the otherworldly technology necessary to create this Antarctic Slip N' Slide, and then commend themselves on being the first team to get there once they hit bottom. Through the tube someone else quite obviously dug for them. With the exception of Bishop and That Guy From Snatch, line delivery is horrendous. My dog acts better. He's not a bright dog, either.

The concept is Special Olympian in scope. I particularly hate the token smart guy, who is able to interpret Predator writing and technology inside of 28 seconds of seeing it. "Well, the Mayans used a base 10 number system and enjoyed corn, so it's obvious that the pyramid will turn into a giant game of Tetris every ten minutes, and squish people. Until that gets inconvenient, at which point it will stop. 10 minutes,in Predator years, is about 32 seconds." Bishop has cancer, I think. For those who don't know, cancer medication doubles as a flame thrower. I'm not kidding.

The Tyrannosaurus chase sequence from Jurassic Park was really well done, though. The Tyrannosaurus runs after Lex and Jim (that's the Scar Pred's name) after Jim blows up the pyramid. He does this by throwing his nuclear wrist band into a room full of eggs, and Lex immediately recognizes that the completely alien device is a bomb. This is due to Jim waving his hand vaguely at her. For those previously unaware, waving you hand vaguely is the universal hand-sign for "Monster F*cker Death Nuke." Try it at a restaurant sometime, and watch the results.

Anyway, after the T. Rex kills Jim by way of its tail, Lex pushes her into the ocean. Luckily, as we all know from Aliens and Alien Resurrection, Aliens can't swim, and as we know from THIS VERY MOVIE, they can't live in cold climates. The Queen is very, very definitely dead. Jim and Lex share a Neo-Trinity kiss or something before he dies, and then the M.A.S.H. 4077 shows up to bring him onto their ship. They give Lex a pointy stick, then leave her in Antarctica in a tank top. Luckily, Antarctica isn't cold in winter, so I'm sure she makes it home just fine.

Question: If the Preds have been using the temple for thousands of years to train new hunters (as recently as 1904, according to the film, and the infestations have been much worse before, according to the flashbacks), why aren't they pissed that Jim blew the whole shebang to kingdom come? Why are the humans so concerned that the Aliens not get to the surface? They've never seen them before (outside of the flashbacks), and the ones who comment on how dangerous they are have only seen 1, maybe 2 Aliens, tops, before their severely edited chestburster deaths. Did they maybe see the other films in the franchise before getting to Artic Hell? Also, if Alien body parts are so horridly caustic, how can Lex wear some as body armour less than 2 minutes after Jim offs one of them? Also, is it possible to request a free ticket back for use on a different movie? I'd like to try.

If nothing else, the slo-mo Baywatch sequence with Jim and Lex hauling @ss out of the pyramid is classic. Stupid, but classic. Overall, I give the film a whopping minus 8 points out of 1, and that's only 'cause it's really, really funny. It would've been a minus 14 otherwise.

Bottom Line: If you're an Alien fan, don't bother. If you're a Predator fan, similarly don't bother. If you like movies in general, slash your wrists now. I laughed myself stupid.

He picked up on some things I forgot too...like
that the walls stopped moving

I'm not ruining your enjoyment of the movie am I? I just thought that this review was hilarious. 😀 It was good popcorn fun!

😀 No problem!!!! And I agree...entertaining movie! 😀

Sucked Big, Huge Boulders.

Alien V. Predator sucked big, huge boulders. That's as close to a review as I am gonna give here. Lol. 😛

Jenny....I CANNOT believe you enjoyed ALIEN 3.......

NEWT....dead

HICKS....dead

RIPLEY....dead

MOVIE....sucked big, huge boulders.

ALIEN and ALIENS were well-made and awesome. I do not and WILL NOT acknowledge any of the other sequels, because they suck big, huge boulders.

PREDATOR....awesome

PREDATOR 2....no Arnold

Having Danny Glover instead of Ahnold.....dumb move. Kept expecting Mel Gibson to pop up.....

Next time they should just combine the LETHAL WEAPON and PREDATOR franchises...then fire everybody in the cast and hire ELMER FUDD. At least then the movie would be different and entertaining. They should then call it:

"WETHAL WEAPON THWEE: I'm Hunting Pwedators....hehehehehe".

Oh, I'm sorry....am I ranting nonsensically? Well then pwease.....err I mean PLEASE accept my apologies. I usually get that way when movie sequels suck big, huge boulders......

😛
