Doherty Plays Bad-Girl Rep for Laughs

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Shannen Doherty's reputation as a bad girl precedes her, and an NBC-based production company hopes to mine that for laughs.

Doherty has signed on to star in a sitcom about a woman who has a reputation for being a bitch but beneath it all is really nice. The show would mark the former "Charmed" and "Beverly Hills, 90210" star's first stab as a sitcom regular.

The show is being set up at Pariah TV, which is based at NBC but can sell projects to other networks.

"The idea has some reference to her own life and her own reputation about a girl who's known for being tough and bad but actually is a lot softer and maybe smarter and nicer than people realize," Jessika Borsiczky, Pariah's co-head of production, tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Doherty has done some comedic work in feature films like "Heathers" and "Mallrats." She also taped a guest appearance on "The Ortegas," a Pariah-produced talk-show/sitcom hybrid currently in scheduling limbo at FOX, that impressed executives.

"She was very funny," Borsiczky says. "We think that her charisma comes across a lot more with comedy than anything else."

Doherty is currently the host of the Sci Fi Channel's hidden-camera show "Scare Tactics."

Final Total Viewers are in and Charmed did really good.

"Forget Me...Not" came in at #80 with 5'850'000 Viewers, one place above Everwood (5'750'000 Viewers).
Charmed remained TheWB's third-most-watched show for its second week, trailing only Smallville (6'830'000 Viewers/#74) and The WB's most watched show 7th Heaven (7'240'000/#70).

Charmed did great, congrats to the show.

And thanks Dancing Warlock for the new info. I'm really interested in Shannen's new show. I'm going to be looking out for that. Don't know when it's going to start - if it's going to start this year - but it should be watchable.

Yes! I love Jenny McCarthy, but the other blondes should beat it.

Allright good news my favorite sister is back on tv only not as Prue, but good to see Shannen back on tv, I will certainly tune in.

Finally I cant stand Jenny McCarthy and so I expect she will be just as annoying on this weeks Charmed, does look like a lighter episode.

Paige, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Piper (Holly Marie Combs) hold a séance with both families and everyone is stunned to learn that Richard's first love, Olivia Callaway (guest star Rachelle Lefevre), is now a ghost and has been escalating the feud to avenge her death. Paige becomes possessed by Olivia's spirit, and Phoebe and Piper must banish Olivia in order to save Paige and the two families. Meanwhile, Leo (Brian Krause) is suspicious when Chris (Drew Fuller) travels to the underworld in search of a potion.

Stuart Gillard directed the episode written by Jeannine Renshaw.

So how was the episode tonight?

I thought the episode was better than the season premiere. It was interesting seeing the three blondes steal the Halliwells' identities and how they would be found out toward the end. Didn't you guys get a case of deja vu about the triquetra splitting? LOL I seem to remember a certain episode..."Power Outage". Yeah, that's it. 😛

Did anyone else watch lats nights episode?

I saw it and I liked it, I am a little disappointed that this season is a little more themed then I would like. I dont want to give anything away but the Chris/Leo relationship became a little more interesting.

I loved it! It was one of the best I have seen in a long time. I agree that it was better than the premiere. It was really intresting how they kept you on your toes.

UGH! I Dream of Phoebe just screams of a genie costume! The show gets so cheezy whenever they use costumes!

Don't get me wrong, I love this show! I just feel like the campiness sometimes takes away from it's artistic integrity!
