All I want.. from Ikea

I sat in the MOST COMFORTABLE chair the other day. I have been searching high and low for it, and it turns out it was at the first place I looked - Ikea. I enjoy flat pack furniture, its like a giant jigsaw puzzle that ends in something useful. Half my bed went missing in the move and I cant get the lounge cover back on after I washed it so I dont have a good place to sit and relax.. for the last 3 years. No wonder I am so uptight! When I sat in this chair the other day I just about died in bliss. So I think it is worth getting. I buy myself the best birthday pressies anyway. Its cheap and looks good for rabbit teeth 😉

Buying online is such a muck around! Everywhere wants you to sign up for everything. I have my card here all I want to do is buy it, I put all the details in (not the card details yet) and it just ends. The check out button isnt loading right. They do a regional delivery to the closest city so I wont get it til next week - if I ever figure out how to order it!

Ikea is not for quality silly! Hehe. Lack of understandable instructions just adds to the thrill - increases the challenge, more rewarding when ya figure it out 😀

I couldnt find this design of chair anywhere, I would have paid a billion dollars for one. I just hope it is the same as the one I sat in the other day, it'll be worth every cent even if it is half as comfortable!

Poang armchairs are great - so comfortable and you can change the covers!

I have 17 Billy bookcases in various configurations. They're full to the brim and the shelves haven't bent (they're straighter than the walls in my house!). I've got five more on order. My TV cabinet's from there - technically, the TV's too heavy for it but it's taking the strain. My flooring on the ground floor is Ikea (it's white, it's been down for five years and it's still looking good). The drawers and wardrobes in one bedroom are also Ikea - as are most of the picture frames in the house. I like the style (clean lines), the price and I'm not bitching about the quality. I find the instructions quite intuitive.

I mix and match with more expensive pieces. The cost of all the Ikea furniture was probably less than I paid for three of my Eames dining chairs so I don't feel obliged to keep it forever.

If you think Ikea instructions are difficult, try assembling a Vita lampshade (below)! Worse still, try balancing on a ladder trying to hang it. I suspect the Danes went into business with the Devil when they designed it. I've got four of these bad boys and they're not coming down - they can stay there till they rot!

I don't feel obliged to keep it forever.

Yeah, that is one of the appealing parts of it for me. Its cheap enough that it can be turfed out to use in the garden when my needs change. The stuff is light weight and can be altered and added to without feeling bad about "ruining" it. I have some old heavy very expensive antique furniture that I hadnt been able to get rid of or move and while people admire it, it is completely non functional for me. I look forward to Anya bun adding her mark on the armchair when it arrives 🙂 I can not expect anything else when I put such a tasty bit of wood in front of her!

When I get a job I will buy the bunnies this -

I would love enough money to get a custom-made closet that would fit perfectly into the little cut-out space I have where my bed currently sits snuggled in. Once I move to my sofa-bed and throw out the old one, I'm gonna start trying to save up, maybe put cash on my wish list for my birthday and Christmas. Especially after this morning when I realized that I don't have room to put all my clothes away, and have to get some more hangers just so it won't be lying around everywhere.

I have put together a lot of Ikea stuff over the years - the pantry, the bookshelves for my daughter's room and about ten Billy shelves and the ones that turned out best were put together after had imbibed a few rum shushes. Your wrists don't get as tired and you can torque screws into wood without feeling any pain in your wrists, so they go in tighter. It all stands straighter than when you assemble something sober. And the instructions make more sense.

Got this faux leather computer chair at some discount store. Wasn't even in a box, just rolling around near the front of the store. 😀 Was just $30! Comfy too. 🙂
