All is not lost for ANGEL...

A Mutant Enemy inside source says there is zero change of The WB changing their minds, but that there is still hope...

Hey all. I apologize for not posting sooner but as you can imagine things are a little in chaos right now.

First off let me state that the WB gave no impressions to ME that the show wasn't doing well or was pending cancellation.

All the indications that ME were given were just the opposite. Joss & company had always known being cancelled was a possibility. However, given the feedback and ratings of the show the staff is a little surprised.

All appearances are this was a decision based on the cost of the show. Angel went through some cost cutting last year. However, it remains one of the most expensive shows on the network.

The WB didn't feel that the cost to return ratio of the show was worth the investment. The ratings have improved but this is the old chicken in the egg. Did the shows ratings improve because the show is better or because it is after Smallville?

Now on to the bigger news. ME will talk to another network about extending the show. This does not guarantee the show will be picked up. However, this does show that ME wants to the show to continue.

For those hoping that UPN would be a lock to pick it up, it is not that simple. About a year ago I would say UPN was primed to pick up the show had it not been renewed. However, as most of you know UPN is having its own problems right now. The ratings for its shows are horrible this season and taking on a show everybody knows is headed out the door is a risky proposition.

Joss has the Firefly project coming up soon and if he doesn't get a serious taker amungst the other networks things don't look good. This is going to come down to timing. The longer it takes, the worse it looks. Unless Joss does a 180 the show will be shopped. Hope is at least there.

Hey guys. Sending a petition to Fox could help. Let Mutent Enemy know you still support the show will help too. However, don't bother with the WB. There is ZERO chance of the WB changing their stance from what I am hearing.

As for those that don't know me, I have a friend that works for the Powers That Be so to speak. I am just passing on what that person is telling me. I have been doing that for long time now and most of the people here can verify that I have been pretty accurate to date.

However, unfortunately nothing is a certain in this business and that doesn't mean the show ultimately will get picked up by another network. All we can do it write and hope.

Well it would be a good fit for Fox. Tru Calling isn't doing all too well in the ratings, and bringing in Angel would likely help out in that department. If they lined them up one after the other, people would be more likely to tune into a show that is similar to Buffy, and starring someone who played one of Buffy's most beloved characters. I know I would be more likely to watch them both. Plus then there would be no contractual issues of having Faith on Angel seeing as how they would be on the same net. It's all wishfull thinking right now. We should all get off our rockers and write to any of the potential nets expressing our desire to see Angel continue on.

I hope not. Smallville is okay but Angel is miles better. Intresting to hear that UPN are flagging, anything to do with a lack of Buffy eh?

Anyway its good theres still hope but Im not going to get too exciting on the prospect because I dont want a big let down. WB got rid of both Buffy and Angel because of money, damn cheap ba*****s so and sos.

I agree with Gordo. I used to love watching Angel on Wednesday and TruCalling on Thursday. but if they could be on back to back... :: party : I toast to you Gordo!... Well lets just say I live of Television. It would make me almost as happy as this guy if Faith could make guest spots on Angel every once in a while-> :: spam2:: And just to complete the party... :: fantom .... a little dancin'!

Really good point! Fox could really use Angel. Thanks for posting Magui and thanks for the address. I think I'll go write to them right now🙂

It would be great if Fox could pick up Angel...how about TNT as well? TNT is already airing Angel...so I don't see why it would be a big deal if they started showing the new episodes.

I'll try to find TNT's address...

EDIT:
To contact TNT suggesting they pick up Angel for next year, visit this webpage that has mailing addresses and phone numbers:

Thanks for the address things magui.. I will write both of them.. I am sending one final email telling the WB that angel needs to get picked up by a better company and if fox or TNT picks it up it's better off anyways.. WB SUCKS, IMO!

Oh cool, thanks. Hopefully someone will pick it up soon, I'm still not sure why WB wanted to drop it in the first place. ::tongue::

And the award for genious of the century goes to... *drumroll* Mr_Gordo!!! This is the best idea I've heard. So I suggest people start writing to Fox pitching them this plan.

Imagine, Eliza Dusku as one of the main cast of Angel *drools
Bah... one can only hope...
