I've noticed that too. He does that with several names. Its interesting since he came up with such unique names *Buffy, Willow, Faith, Drusilla, Dawn, Harmony, Anya* but likes to repeat himself with others.

I've always thought, perhaps mistakenly, that Anya was named after Anya Colloff & that Amy was named for Amy McIntyre Britt. They're the two who are credited in nearly every episode as doing the casting. Also on AtS, I always thought the character of Skip was named after Skip Schoolnik, one of the co-producers. I'm probably way off on this but I have noticed that quite a few shows seem to have crew members with the same (often distinctive) names as characters.

There are actually at least two more Richards - Richard the Delta Zeta Kappa in "Reptile Boy", and Richard the vampire in "Lies My Parents Told Me". Amy's mother is another Cathy.
