I don't know whether I am the only one who read, heared or saw about this trial, but I thought I'd share this horrific thing.

BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- A German computer technician accused of killing, dismembering and eating the flesh of a man who agreed to the deal over the Internet has gone on trial for murder.

The trial of Armin Meiwes, which started on Wednesday, is the first case of its kind in Germany for allegedly killing and eating a man after advertising for a willing victim on the Internet.

The computer technician from Rotenburg-an-der-fuld, in central Germany, is charged with murder as no crime of cannibalism exists in Germany.

Dressed in a dark suit, he appeared relaxed as he sat down next to his lawyer at the Kassel state court Wednesday.

The story was splashed all over the tabloids last year when it broke, and the 42-year-old defendant has spoken to the press, reportedly saying "sorry."

He is alleged to have cut off part of the victim's body before the pair ate it together. The defendant is then alleged to have cut up the victim, storing his body in a freezer and eating it over the following months.

The defense is expected to argue that the victim, a 43-year-old computer technician identified only as Bernd Juergen B., from Berlin, agreed to the macabre event.

The crime is alleged to have taken place at this 18th century house.

Police tracked down and arrested the suspect in December last year after a student in Austria alerted them to an advertisement Meiwes had allegedly placed on the Internet seeking a man willing to be killed and eaten.

"The German public on the one hand is repulsed, but of course, on the other is fascinated," said CNN's Berlin Bureau Chief Stephanie Halasz.

The alleged crime at the 18th century manor house happened in March 2001, prosecutors say.

A verdict from the court, which is scheduled to hear 38 witnesses, is expected in February.

i kinda feel sorry for the guy, from that report he didnt seem to know it was wrong. its not like the guy didnt agree to it.

so shouldnt he be tried for assisted suicide?

oh well dosent matter now, here we go again...

Well, the fact the other guy wanted to die, could help this man get convicted for assisted suicide, which would only be 5 years.
 
What made me squirm was the body part they ate together before the cannibal killed his dinner. It's a man thing apparently (!).

I wonder if it was eaten with "a nice chianti"...

I also read that the guy barbecued most of the "long pork" that he ate. Doesn't he know that eating too much barbecue is possibly carcinogenic 😉
 
I've heard of this before...I really want to know the verdict as it's the first time I've head someone was accused of eating someone else...
 
Mr. Pointy, I can confirm that, they did eat his penis together first. Unfortunatly I still haven't found out what the cause of death was.
 
The lines he advertise with on the internet were:

"young, well-built men aged 18 to 30 to slaughter"

By the way, the penis was flambeed, if any of you were lookin for the best way to prepare it.

Eating any part together first makes me feel like squirming...yuck, yuck and more yuck!
 
chasity: you said it.. really i'm ALL with you on that staement!!!! really.. i get sick to my stomach just thinking of it!

i used to be real fasinated by serial killers.. still am(NOT in the morbide i wanna be like them kinda away!! but i just wonder how some one can do that to other living things and so on...) and i read once and help this lecture in school about this man who was a canibà¸le, who liked to eat nipples, and balls(i'm sorry, i don't know the pretty penis like name for this!)
 
You know, I've felt pretty depressed a few times in my life. But I'm trying to imagine how amazingly depressed you have to be before someone says to you, "I want to cook up your privates while you watch. I'll share if you want to go halfsies on the eating with me!" and your response is "Oh, yes, thanks very much. I'd love to have just a nip of me before you do me in!"

THE MOTIVE
In chilling, matter-of-fact detail, Armin Meiwes told the hushed court how his obsession with cannibalism developed as a child and eventually led him to kill and eat a fellow human being.

Testifying on the opening day of his trial for murder, he said that his fantasy first developed between the ages of eight and 12.

He would imagine killing, carving up and eating schoolfriends whom he liked.

Herr Meiwes, dressed smartly in a dark jacket and tie, said that he felt lonely as a child and longed for a younger brother, his father having abandoned the family.

His longing for a brother led him to imagining binding a friend to him for ever by consuming him. It also aroused him sexually, he admitted.

"Slim and blond, that would have been the type," he told the court.

Herr Meiwes said that horror films and watching animals being slaughtered heightened his imagination: "I had the fantasy, and in the end I fulfilled it."

In an interview released yesterday, Herr Meiwes said it was not a case of murder because Herr Brandes "used me as a tool" to help him die.

"My friend enjoyed dying, death. I only waited horrified for the end after doing the deed. It took so terribly long," he said.
