Almost tired of Spike

since i liked, wait... really liked seasons 6 and 7, i have alot of faith for what angel 5 can be... the first two episodes rock, that's all i care about
 
I have mixed feelings about Spike showing up. The whole Boppin' with Buffy thing will have him and Angel snarling at each other, and I can see a lot of comic situations should Dru show up, and with Harmony around. It'll be funny to have someone explaining the back story to, say, Gunn or Fred, and their reactions. On the other hand, what the heck do you do with two vamps with souls? Redundant much! I can think of some plots, but how much posing can we take? Either way, I'm riding this train to the end.
 
Spike may have taken over seasons 6 and 7 but they were still great and BTVS still rocked.Apart from 1 or 2 dodgy eps have the writers ever let us down?I have faith that Joss and co will keep Angel fresh and that season 5 will be an excellent and exciting season.

Are they both going to be good this season?

Lets be honest here, Angel has a serious dark streak - he's proven a few times that he can be pretty bad and not through Angelus. Remember S2?

And as for Spike, yes, he's souled now. Without Buffy around to try and impress, will he be good? Or will he continue to be the Big Bad we all love him to be?

Actually, they've made posters for each character. Using Spike's poster as the main focus was a good move, I think. Bringing Spike to the show is a big change. If it was anyone else coming from Buffy, they would have done the same thing. It happened to be Spike, the most popular character, besides Buffy...so they wanted to promote it the most. Good marketing.
 
Sadly, all of the promotion has to be publicity driven. If Angels ratings fall any further then it doesn't matter about critical acclaim. The show will disappear.

I'm personally glad Spike's here. He possibly had too much airtime in the last season of Buffy, but the main problem was that there were far too many characters in the mix. Joss tried to pull off a huge final battle, and it worked, kind of. Unfortunately to do that a lot of characters had to be left underdeveloped. Spike got a bit more focus than the rest, and he's taking a lot of stick for it.

I'm sure that after he's settled in, he will begin to merge into the background a lot more, so that he becomes a cast member and not a co-star. However we need to give the writers time to explain his reappearance properly, or it will seem like a shoddy ratings ploy.

It probably is, but it doesn't need to look like one.

I totally agree. He was on the show for most of 5 out of 6 1/2 seasons! He was a main character...I wish people wouldn't keep on about him as if he were some fly by night kind of character...Tara was there for less time and everyone just welcomes her as a core character...and season 6, he may have been in it a lot but it wasn't about him..he was representing something Buffy was going through...and I felt it was perfectly equal to the other characters time-wise...
 
I like Spike on Angel. He could've done his own show, but having two shows about a vampire with a soul might be a little much. Plus if Spike hadn't gone to Angel, they might not have resigned it!

I hate to disagree with some of you . . . then again, no I don't. Blame Whedon for Seasons 6 and 7? Blame him for what? A lot of Spike? I'd like to kiss his feet for making Spike a major player in the series, during those season. Next to Buffy, he was the most interesting character.
 
spike does seem to get a lot of story time. i dont mind this as long as the story is good. the one thing that i dont like is how his presence affects angel behaves. its consistent with how he's behaved towards spike and riley in the past, and its good for angel to show some more human emotions, i just dont like the way he gets super insane/immature with jealousy.

I dont agree, but then again , guess I am still considered a newbie to this site. I think you are taking this totally out of proportion. Spike hasnt taken over and he wont ... Remember its called Angel!! I could site many reasons but you should already know them and if thats the case, why didnt they change it last season to Conner and Cordelia, thats all it was about. Give the writers and the actors a break. The show is Angel, and I personally think that after last season, Spike is a welcomed relief to all the mess that Conner and Cordy caused. Chill out and see what happens.

Angel fans, it's okay. Angel will still be the leading man. Rest assured.

Then only bad thing that can come of Spike being on Angel, is the writing being made to destory his character, to bring him back down to a monster's level. That would be shame, considering how far he has come.
 
I totally agree with that obviously and I think that would be the point that I quit watching. I know they have times where for some reason the characters go crazy but if they made Spike into a complete bad guy again after everything I would'nt be able to support it...I just identify too strongly with his character...I care that much about him and what he's been through...
 
yeah i really hope spike won't be taking over, i don't think he will be though. I really liked in the last episode when spike was talking about the 'history' between him and wesley and then fred goes "that is such crap" or something like that....
 
Spike will NOT take over the show people. Don't get your panties in a tornado. Spike is good to the show. It is still called Angel. That won't change. Please, just have faith in Joss.
 
I'm a big early-Spike fan (before he got all whiney), and at first I was weary of Joss bringing him over to "Angel." But I have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing the developement of the character. We've only seen Spike as defined by either being with Dru or being obsessed with Buffy. We've yet to see Spike as just plain Spike; comfortable with himself. And so far I'm liking the constant pot-shots between Spike and Angel. The only downside is the possibility of taking screen time away from other Fang Gang members (I'm missing Wesley this season!!).
