Syfy’s Alphas has lined up a slew of guest stars for Season 2, including cult favorite Summer Glau, The Lord of the Rings vet Sean Astin and NCIS‘ Lauren Holly.
RELATED | Syfy Sets Dates for Eureka Series Finale, Warehouse 13 Premiere, Shifts Lost Girl
The sci-fi drama revolves around a secret group of normal people with extraordinary mental and physical abilities. Glau (Firefly, Dollhouse), who was previously introduced as the super-intelligent Skylar Adams, will return for three Season 2 episodes.
Astin meanwhile will appear as Roland, an Alpha with a bizarrely absorptive brain that allows him to assume the memories of others and then replay them like a tape recorder. Holly will play a senator with mysterious ties to a member of the clandestine organization.
Also on the docket for Season 2 are C. Thomas Howell (Southland) as an Alpha with super-speed abilities who has revenge on the mind and returning guest stars John Pyper-Ferguson (Caprica) and Kathleen Munroe (SGU Stargate Universe), playing “Perfect Alpha” Stanton Parish and Dr. Rosen’s (David Strathairn) empath daughter Dani, respectively.
Alphas returns Monday, July 23 at 10/9c.

I just started watching this show a little after season 2 premiered. One of my first episodes was when Summer Glau guest starred. I wanted to watch it before that night but I'd forgotten about it for a while. But I've been watching it since I watched S1 and caught up to season 2 with the few episodes that aired so far.

🙂 I like this show. So I'm happy that Summer Glau will return for 3 episodes. Gary Bell is one of my favorites.

No dates on which the episodes Summer Glau will be guest starring in this season (Season 2.) At least I haven't checked to see yet. At the end of this episode tonight, they aired a commerical for episodes to come. Summer Glau was in the previews so I'm not sure if it means that she'll be in the upcoming episodes. But you guys should watch the show anyway.😛

Gary is a big part of why I watch the show. Love, love, love.

I've watched the first season but so far I'm holding off on season 2. Not because I don't want to watch it. Just like it better when you don't have to wait at least a week for the next episode.

I knew Summer was coming back (yay) but didn't know about Sean and Holly. Great news since I like them both.

Washburne Yeah, Gary is definitely most of the reason why I watch.

Ah okay. Yeah, I know it sucks to wait a week for a new episode. When your watching a series that already has a first season and is currently on the second season, it's easy to watch a few episodes a day.😛

I was HOPING Summer Glau would be back to reprise her role. Summer Glau was almost unrecognizable in the episode in season 1. I was like please tell me that we haven't seen the last of Summer Glau's character?!! And then I saw her on the previews for upcoming episodes and I was giddy! I was like "Yes!! She will be returning!"

TechnicolourTea I really liked her appearance in season 1 as well.

Will the UK air season 2 when it's finished in US?

I freaking love this show! I missed season 1 as it aired, but it's on Netflix streaming. I love Summer's character & her weird hair. This show is how all of SyFy's shows should be. Dump the stupid reality paranormal shows! Smart writing, interesting twists, great characters....

VisionGirl I agree. I really like Alphas a lot. What originally drew me into the show was Ryan Cartwright (Gary Bell ) Because he played an intern on Bones. Then they killed his character off on Bones, I guess because he got a role on Alphas.😛

Totally surprised me when I watched an episode and saw Summer Glau but her hair was all different.

I actualky like Ryan even better as Gary. I work with kids with autism & asperger's and he & the writers are doing a fabulous job with that!

One of my favorite quotes from this last episode: "I hate bees. They have evil intent." I agree Gary!

Yeah.lol. Somethings that he says or does, I'm sure it's not suppose to be funny but I laugh.Like in first or second episode of this season when he tells Dr Rosen he is going slam the door before actually doing it, made me laugh.

I can also relate to Gary sometimes. I think that's another reason why he is my favorite character on the show.

"Does she speak chinese?" Said when they talk about Skylar. I'll take that as a Firefly reference thank you very much. No matter if it's intentional or not.

I enjoyed him on Bones for sure but Gary is many, many times better. The star of the show in my eyes.

Aw I totally missed that!
I have to say that I do not like Dr. Rosen's daughter. Even before I knew she was bad. She just looks & acts like a strung-out druggie. Although I do like what she did for Cameron and his son.

Can I say how much I loooove the theme song? Love it!!

And hey, I'm reading on Wikipedia:
With the appearance of Dr. Vanessa Calder (Lindsay Wagner) in the Season 1, Episode 5, "Never Let Me Go", it was established that Alphas takes place in a shared universe with Eureka and Warehouse 13.
Huh, that's interesting. I've only seen very tiny bits of either of those shows, they really didn't interest me. I think Alphas is waaaay better in terms of writing & acting.

I enjoy both Eureka and Warehouse 13 more than Alphas but those shows are quite different. More light/silly and overall fun while Alphas is more of a drama.
