I've always been curious with this one, and I wanted to know all of your opinions.

My ideal alternate Season 7, would be an ending that Joss himself wanted originally.

This is not MY idea, just something I'd like to pass along...

"Hey Will," Buffy said from the open doorway, "party's downstairs!"

Willow furrowed her brow, sneaking a glance at the Slayer before returning to the idle twirling of her keepsake. "Don't feel like it," the redhead mumbled.

"So you're just going to sulk, huh?" Buffy asked. "Doesn't devouring tasty discs of way too many calories and watching videos until your eyes fall out sound better?"

"Not particularly hungry, either," Willow added grumpily. "And don't get me started on movies. I'm so burnt out on Hollywood. To them, the only good lesbian is an evil or dead one. It's an awful cliche!"

Disturbed by the darkness of her comment, Buffy came over and sat on the bed next to her, wrapping an arm around her best friend. "We worry about you, Will," she said softly. "We all do."

"I'll be okay," Willow moaned, shirking off the gesture. She didn't like the idea of her friends pitying her, not after all the evil she had done. It amazed her that they were still her friends at all. "Not to change the subject, but did you ever make a wish?"

D'hoffren, Anya's boss and head vengeance demon, had granted the Slayer one reality-changing wish in payment for stopping the First from destroying their unholy order. Somewhat like helping a rapist in order to stop a serial killer, Buffy disliked the situation, but at least the greater threat had been eliminated. Buffy had tortured herself for nearly a week, trying to decide what she would wish for. Would she bring her mom back? What about Angel? Would she make him fully human so they could finally be together. There were so many possibilities. Then it hit her. The answer was obvious.

"Sure did!" the bouncy blonde announced, popping up from the bed and whipping around in front of Willow. "Aren't they just the bomb?" she asked, pointing at her new, shiny red shoes. "I wanted them and now I have them! They're perfect!"

Willow stood and faced the Slayer, her back to the door. She stared at the footwear and then glumly into her friend's eyes. "You wished for shoes?" she asked incredulously.

Buffy stretched out her arms and held her friend by the shoulders. "Of course not," she replied with a frown. "Don't be an idiot! I'm not that clueless!"

"Sorry," Willow apologized. "So what did you"¦?"

"Happy Birthday, Will!" Buffy announced, then sidestepped her friend and proceeded toward the door.

Willow whipped around, her large eyes rolling in their sockets, thinking her best friend was, indeed, that clueless. "Buffy," she complained with a sigh, "you know it's not my"¦"

Then she saw the impossible. The deep blue eyes, the soft blonde hair, the frail line of chin, all so picture perfect, as if sealed in amber. But she wasn't in amber. She was moving and breathing. The distinct scent of hazelwood drifted into the room. "Hey, you," Tara said, greeting her lover with her trademark lopsided grin.

"T-Tara?"

That was a story written by tarasback on the Extra Flamey Tara/Willow Fanfic site... It WAS based on Joss Whedon's idea of bringing Tara back, where Kennedy never would have existed.

So what do you all think? Any other alternate ending ideas or rumors out there?

Um, now I don't doubt that Joss wanted to bring Tara back and I hate to be critical, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be like that and it wouldn't be at the end of the season. Now, Tara was an awesome character, but I think it is good that they kept her dead, you need a big toll every couple of years in a television series and Tara's death defintely made an impact. It would've cheapened the impact if they brought her back during season 7, much respect to Amber for making the right decision and leaving well enough alone. The character of Tara has a good legacy on the show and it would've been tainted if brought back from the dead. And yeah, Kennedy and Willow should of never happened, but I still think the character brought alot to season 7.

Actually, the part about the wish and the shoes is true. What Joss said about it is here.

Do I wish Tara had come back? Of course I do. I thought Tara was a wonderful character, loved Amber Benson's portrayal of her and loved Willow and Tara together. But since they couldn't, I'm glad they gave Willow someone new. In Joss Whedon's words 'someone needed to finish the show with a goddamn girlfriend.'

Hey...Buffy shun shoed. 😀
That is just wrong.....funny though.

Edit:
I just thought of this. Tara, Willow, Xander, & Anya were all responsible for hundreds of deaths if not thousands. If it wasn't for them The First would never have been able to do what it did. Looking at it that way Anya & Tara got what they deserved, Xander got off easy, and Willow wasn't punished at all.

I'm just curious how you think that Xander, Tara and Willow killed thousands of people... Unless I missed something... Only Willow killed someone... And that, in my eyes, was justified... I woulda done the same... Well atleast hurt Warren... I definately dont have Willows powers... but yea....

PS... thanks phoenixrising... you are seriously scaring me... 😀... but you saved me from finding that link... so cheers!

Well, yeah. If Willow, Tara, Anya and Xander hadn't brought Buffy back in season 6, The First couldn't have done what it did in season 7. That is pretty much what Beljoxa's Eye tells us. We don't really know what it means, but yes, you could look at it as if it's their fault that all these people are dying.
But it's not fair to say they killed all these people. They didn't ask the First to do what it did, they had no idea this could happen. The First (and everyone/everything working for The First) is still the killer. Although Xander, Willow, Tara and Anya are in some way responsible. But that doesn't make it "right" for them to be killed. Anya were even killed, more or less, by the thing that also did kill all those people.

And I wouldn't say Willow wasn't punished at all, look at what she had to go through in season 6 and 7, she might not have lost an eye or her life, but still. I know that her "punishment" didn't have much to do with The First, my neither did Tara's death, so..

Anyway, I don't at all agree that they deserved to die because of what they did. They had no idea that this was going to happen. You can't blame them for the people dying. Although, I would be more careful with how I use magic from now on if I were Willow, but I'm guessing she realized that herself and we all know that she now is.

Thank God that Tara never returned. It would have made a joke over Willow's story arc. And quite frankly, I would not have wanted to endure more Willow/Tara dullness.

Also, the First is responsible for Buffy's resurrection. The First was all the dark impulses and evil within all of the characters.

Yeah, like when a kid breaks the cookie jar. He should say "Wasn't me Mom. Was the First Evil". lol
Willow, Tara, Xander, & Anya may not have killed all those people themselves, but they are directly responsible for every death Potentials, Watchers, the Council, and any innocent by stander who got in the way. If it wasn't for them no Potential, Watcher, the Council, or any innocent by stander who got in the way would have died they would be alive. They are 95% responsible for every death, where as The First and its agents are only 5% responsible because they actually did it.

Anya being killed by an agent of The First is called poetic justice.

Thanks for my daily dose of things that make you go "Huh???" :)
....Am I the only one that thinks that Tara and Willow should have been together...

I mean, I don't think that there was any dullness to them, really. The thing that started getting dull to me... Was the constant fact that NO one could be happy... I mean, yea, sure it makes for great TV... The first 20 times it happens... But I think they wore that plot down a little bit... I just dont think that it was fair to Willow that she lost the same person twice... She went through alot trying to change for Tara... and then she loses her...

But then again the whole Hell-Mouth thing... Guess its just wishful thinking that someone could possibly be happy and keep it 🙂

Willow did get a happy ending I might add, just not with the person everyone wanted her to be with. And W/T was a good BTVS relationship, but it ran it's course and it had a chance of being dull in season 7 if it continued. There wasn't more they could do with them.

Ok, so following this theory, Giles is responsible for all the deaths caused by Eyghon (since he summoned it years ago) and Buffy is responsible for all the deaths caused by Angelus (since she slept with him and didn't kill him in 'Innocence'). Right?

Not buying it. ::thumb::

Eh, Spike My Darlin, I can't agree with you at all..
It's not even the same as with Buffy and Angelus or Giles and Eyghon, because Willow and the others didn't in any way summon The First, or let The First live. They had no idea that bringing Buffy back would have anything to do with The First.
And even if they did, how can you say that the people somewhat accidently responsible for giving the killer an opportunity to kill, are more responsible than the actual killer? I find no logic what so ever, ehh.

I think I heard someone say it's like saying anyone who worked on building a road is responsible for highway deaths and drunk driving.

Wait a minute though. Does that analogy fit here?

Willow and the scoobs knew there are usually repercussions to messing with the dark magiks. It's mentioned many times. Do they now become responsible or accountable for their actions.

When you try to do the right thing, and it turns out to be the wrong thing, are you now responsible for anything wrongdoers might now be able to do as a result of it?

Is Einstein responsible for Hiroshima? As I understand it his theory of relativity led to the knowledge necessary to create an atomic bomb. Technology can be used for corrupt purposes.

I agree that it had the possibility of running a dull course... But that's what the writers are for... Making it un-dull... And I'm not saying that they should never have killed Tara, because I think that evil Willow was a nice development (honestly I was ready to kill Warren myself). I just think that they should have went on the Wish idea of Buffy bringing Tara back for Willow... I thought someone deserved their soulmate after everything they went through...

I must agree. In fact, I had similar feelings about Willow's relationship with Oz.

I think that would have been a BIG mistake. A big mistake. Getting Tara back through some wish of Buffy's would have been the equivlent of regressing Willow's story . . . and her development. In order for Willow's relationship with Tara to move forward, they would have had to address the issues behind Willow's misuse of magic. Willow and Tara never did, once they had reconciled. Not like Willow did with Kennedy in both "The Killer in Me" and "Get It Done". I thank God that Whedon never followed up on this Wish idea. Besides, I don't believe in the idea of "soulmate", when speaking of romance. It seems like adolescent nonsence.

It may seem like adolescent nonsense to you... But theres no other way to explain the INSTANT connection that they experienced in "Hush".

And there was ALOT different between Willow/Tara and Willow/Oz... There was barely anything to the Willow/Oz relationship... Besides her first... And they were in love... But they didn't have anywhere near the amount of chemestry that Willow/Tara did. It took Willow a while to get the idea of Oz... She started out as doing it to make Xander jealous. She instantly liked Tara... You could tell... Simple gestures say alot, especially in an episode where things are silent through out most of it...

And although there wasnt much they could do with Willow/Tara if Tara ever did come back... They really didn't need to re-build a story with them... To me, if Tara returned to Willow, just seeing that at the end, would explain so much... I don't know... Just a thought 😀

Yes, those things can happen. And no-one want them to but does that make it their faul? I'd say no. They definetly should have been more careful with what they did. They should have looked into what might happen. But I so do understand that they thought they were saving the world by bringing Buffy back (and maybe they did).
Well, to me, they're not as "innocent" as people who build roads, but I'm just saying you can't say they're more responsible for it then The First is. Or that they desrve to die because of what happened. Because I really don't believe that. If you take that thought even further.. you've got to start considering what gave them these ideas, and what/who gave Willow the powers to be able to perform this spell.. Or what gave her the idea to begin with the magic stuff in the first place. I mean, really, the first people on earth were probably responsible for everything since they were the beginning of everything, but I'm not gonna take it that far.. Or blaming Willow's parents for raising her the way they did, or say it was all Tara's fault because Willow probably would never have got that powerful if she had never met her... Eh, sorry.. Just saying.. I don't think it' fair to blame any of them. It was partly their fault some how, but they were not the killers. They really weren't..

Cheers! Very well said... Took the words right out of my mouth... Like they said when they ressurected Buffy in the first place... There were consequences... and unfortunately, the First just happened to be one...
