If you could choose where BtVS' ending would be (other than the episode "Chosen"/the end of season 7), where would it be?

I'd have to say somewhere in season 4, when Buffy goes to L.A. and in the Angel crossover episode "I Will Remember You" (without Angel going back to the Oracle to get his old vampire self back). So they can live happily ever after, fighting evils together. Yeah, I'm sucker for fairy tale endings (although I must admit that it wouldn't make it too interesting).

I think The Gift would have been a very good ending for Buffy and it was an ending in Joss's eyes. He didn't know if the show would be coming back for a sixth season so he wrote this episode to end the series. Joss has said before in regards to Chosen that he had already written the end of the series and now he had to write another ending.

Plus season 5 was a great season overall up to that point and Buffy's sacrificial death was such a noble act and for her to die a hero was sweet. Saying that I'm glad there was two more seasons!

I like chosen it was lovely like I'm Buffy i have died twice and beated the ultimate big bad , bring it on x

I think it would have been nicer if Anya lived tho and Robin died cause i hate him x

Normal Again would have been a really great ending actually. I can imagine Joss having to check for bombs under his car every morning afterwards though. I still prefer Chosen. I actually think they could have ended it with Grave if they knew beforehand. It would have been very Scoobie centric.

Excluding the obvious one "Th e Gift" who was a bit like an end since the show then moved to another network, I totally agree. Normal again would habe been great. And so did the writers as they wanted it as the season finale.
The ending of Season 3 could've been a logical ending for the series, thou we're all glad it wasn't! High school was over, and the whole "We survived. Not the apocalypse, high school," scene was a good wrap up. It even had Xander and Cordy walking off chatting in a friendly manner, like there might have been hope for them getting back together again. Sure, Angel left, but at that point, it didn't seem to me like it would have been more than a short absence before he came back, sans curse, so that they could live broodingly ever after, waiting for the next apocalypse.

I think that Chosen was the perfect ending... but I think Kennedy should have been axed over Anya! ('cause I dislike her greatly!)

I agree, the only good endings besides Chosen would have been The Gift or Normal Again (although even though it was an incredible idea and premise it wasn't "big" enough to be a series finale.) It wouldn't have made as big of an impact to kill Kennedy or Robin because they were just introduced that season, Anya or Dawn would have been the only ones to die that made sense and since Joss wanted a happy ending he chose Anya over Dawn so Buffy wouldn't be all grievy. Although I would have rather had Kennedy die than Anya just cuz I like Anya so much, and I actually liked Principal Wood.
