I have stumbled upon quite a few of these and wondered what you all thought of this concept.

I don't know how I feel about this idea of Things That Could Have Been But Never Were in the Buffyverse - you know? But it does make for good fiction.

This video deals with the concept of if Buffy had Spike had ever had a "reunion"...what would have happened? I'm really curious what you all think of it. It is very well done and not your average "fanvid" 🙂

Well, I wrote one story for the Wishverse and am working on another, so I think I am pretty clear on where I stand. I am definitely in favor of exploring the characters and situations further. Like any truly good piece of fiction, Buffy is rich enough to provide a lot of avenues for exploration. The show dealt with some characters that had long, rich histories and others that had complex, promising futures. So much must be read between the lines or was left unfinished or unremarked upon that the potential for exploration is virtually limitless. The characters and stories get into your head. They stay with you. You find yourself wondering "what if" and you miss them now that Joss has concluded their story (unless you read the comics!). To take that next step and to fashion your own adventures and outcomes for them, to answer your own "what if" questions, means that you did more than stare listlessly at the boob tube; it means that you engaged with the text, that you thought critically and that you explored its metaphors, messages, and subtexts. This is a sign of a great piece of art. This is a sign of art that withstands the test of time; rather than washing over them as a cheap laugh or a cheap thrill, Buffy challenges and engages people. In my opinion, it is only natural to continue that exploration on one's own.

Also, I thought the video was very well done. Nice find! I don't really know what would happen if Buffy and Spike were ever to meet up again, but it sure is fun to try to figure it out.
