With How I Met Your Mother set to tape its final episode in less than two weeks, co-star Alyson Hannigan has been tapped for another CBS multi-camera comedy. Hannigan is set as the female lead opposite Tom Papa in the network’s high-profile pilot More Time With Family, executive produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and written/exec produced by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith. Based on the stand-up of Papa and the experiences of Damon, More Time With Family centers on Tom (Papa), a husband and father making a career change to spend more time with his family. Hannigan will play Tom’s wife Cindy. 20th Century Fox TV is producing. APA-repped Hannigan, who is coming off two hit series back-to-back, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and HIMYM, is the first original cast member of the long-running CBS comedy series to book a pilot. Recent cast addition Cristin Milioti (aka the Mom) just landed the female lead in the NBC romantic comedy pilot A to Z.

CBS tend to do the broader comedies I dont tend to fall in love with, and it sounds generic enough, though I'd check it out.

I'll probably check it out, but I hated HIMYM with the fire of a thousand suns. I couldn't even get through the first season. I'm not big on comedies, Friends being the obviously exception and I usually I get my laughs from things like QI or Who's Line.

But, you know, loyalty and all that...

Well, I don't know if I'll watch it, since it doesn't sound very interesting to me, but I'm really happy for her. It's great that she found her next gig so soon after HIMYM.

Why oh why has she been type casted as a comedy actress... she has so much potential, she drives some of the most emotionally powerful scenes in Buffy (and one in Angel), so it saddens me to see her reduced to such a simple role...

At least she's working, which is more than can be said for some we all know and love...

she's capable of so much more
I hate comedies with a passion (although I do like British humour). Having said that, I will not be watching this, but I'm happy Alyson Hannigan is on a roll with her career!

I do agree that she has so much more potential then the typecast comedic role. If this is what she prefers, then good on her and I wish her the best. But her dramatic scenes were so awesome on Buffy that I still have a hard time seeing her as only a comedic actress. To this day, I still think she was one of the best actress on BtVS when it came to showing emotions and playing with darker plots.

Yeah, nothing wrong with doing comedy but she definetly has the range to do more.
I will probably check it out, but I don't know how great the show will actually be. HIMYM was ok, but got tiring quickly. I don't know how a post-show is going to do.

Maybe it's a comedy, but there is some good news buried in the press release. It will be produced by Matt Damon and Ben Afflick who are well known for being outside the mainstream Hollywood idiocy. It may be better than you think. Still, Alyson did her best work on BtVS but was first to have a new identity "one time, at band camp" after Buffy and may actually be on a reasonable show this time.

I can never forgive Ben Affleck for butchering Daredevil, and the film gigli... so this doesn't inspire with hope me as much as it might others
