So that's what happens when you let children make the fashion calls. Alyson Hannigan rocked a dramatic, strapless eggplant-purple Marchesa gown at the Emmys on Sunday, Sept. 22 -- and, as it turns out, it's all thanks to her 4-year-old daughter Satyana!
The How I Met Your Mother actress, 39, looked downright divine at the Governor's Ball afterparty, but she revealed to Us that the dress was a little bulkier than she would've liked.
"It was between this and blue, and I showed pictures to my 4-year-old and she said, 'Oh mommy, definitely the purple one!'" Hannigan told Us. "I think she just liked how big it was. I myself feel like a Zamboni -- I'm sweeping up and there's a small trash pile beneath me!"
The actress offset her deep purple gown with a simple wavy hairstyle that showed off her shoulders, as well as a bejeweled Marchesa clutch, Jay Carlile jewels, and Roger Vivier shoes.
Hannigan added that being a mommy meant that the hardest part about getting ready wasn't the process itself -- it was keeping Satyana and younger daughter Keeva, 15 months, at bay while she was getting dolled up for the awards ceremony.
"I just let the experts do what they do!" she said. "I was like, telling the baby 'Don't touch my hair!' 'That's a curling iron -- don't touch that!' 'Maybe don't sit in my lap right now!'"
Earlier in the week, Hannigan took the two girls out to the beach in Malibu with husband Alexis Denisof, where she showed off her impressive post-baby physique in a tie-dye string bikini.
"I think by Hollywood standards I'm supposed to be in bikini shape now that my baby is 4 weeks old," she tweeted last May following Keeva's birth. "My workout goal: Food drops in lap, not on belly."
