I must be the only one who didn't think "A Spy in the House of Love" was phenomenal.

I have been a huge fan from episode one, so it is surprising that this one disappointed me. Especially seeing all you guys are RAVING about it!!!! What on earth could I have missed?

I thought a lot of the dialogue and acting was mediocre, at best.
Corny Corny Corny. The Victor/Adelle thing seemed to be way too drawn out in my opinion, and was very tacky.

Also, I now find Adelle irritating. That breakdown? Come on.....that was cringeworthy. I thought she was so out there I was actually thinking in the beginning that she had been imprinted. I suppose it was meant to show her "human side". Didn't do it for me.

Acting, along with dialogue could have been improved. I can SEE them actiing. That's the problem. The only ones I thought did a good job portraying their characters this week were Sierra and Mellie/November.

After reading all your reviews, I am convinced I missed something. Or maybe I just over-analyzed, which I do tend to do.....but I am surprised it is this episode that I picked apart bit by bit...and very easily.
I might have to watch it again.


Don't hate....lol, I am just trying to figure out why I was disappointed this week while all of you seem you couldn't be more pleased!! 😵

I guess we really disagree cause this episode made Adelle oficially my favorite character, lol. love ya though :D
I actually agree that Adelle's breakdown was kind of cringeworthy. Olivia Williams is still one of the best things about this show though. Grief/mental breakdown is tough to pull off.

I think this show's premise is so incredibly demanding for any actor, that's it's gonna come off as contrived and fake at times. Seems like maybe it's still stuggling to find its footing in terms of tone, getting out from under FOX interference. Honestly, I think every Whedon show has kind of a "fake", stylized quality to it...and I don't know that that's necessarily a strength if you're trying to do straight, heavy drama.

The twisty nature of the story is enough to keep me into it so far.
 
Think I'm gonna sit down and rewatch everything pretty soon here...most of the eps demand repeated viewings.
 
I agree that the scene between DeWitt and Victor went on a little too long... i felt like, there could be more that could be going on for this episode besides 10 minutes of them....
 
I think one of the brilliant attributes of this last episode were the seperate but intersecting storylines for each of the dolls. Its definately something that I appreciated more after watching it a second time since I knew the entire storyline going in.
 
i don't watch dollhouse (yet), but all i know is i'm sure i would've liked this episode, because, after reading the afterellen recap, i learned it had eliza dushku in leather with a whip. so...what's not to like?
 
You probably expected too much, and were let down in the end. I didn't think "Man on the Street" was all it was hyped up to be.
 
I also agree with the Adelle/breakdown comment. As soon as she started, I was like "why is she crying"? That wasnt supposed to be what happened after she decided to send Dominic to the attic was is?

I thought the same as you, it bugged the crap out of me.
I think it was important to make the breakdown seem weird and cringeworthy as that's how it would feel for the character...or is that me just thinking to much?
I thought it was a good episode, not the best, nut it still gave me a fix of what I'm expecting from an episode of Dollhouse.

I think the thing is, the show's always mediocre. It's poor compared to Buffy, Angel and Doctor Horrible (I never saw Firefly), and it's just okay compared to similar shows.

It certainly isn't bad, but the show hasn't come close to being profound like I think Buffy and Angel were. And it's Joss' first series that's not really innovative either.

I like it, and enjoy it, but I think anyone expecting a monumental show here will be disappointed. Maybe it will turn into one, but...

Of course the show hasnt come close. The first nine episodes of Buffy arent nearly as "profound" as the rest of the series was either.

Definitely, but I don't know about you, but by the end of "Angel" (01x09), I think the audience had a strong connection with Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles and even Angel.

And I know Angel the series was in a different category, as a spinoff, but I thought "City of..." and "In the Dark" were two of the most enjoyable episodes of the series. And "I Will Remember You" & "Hero" actually brought me to tears, and those were all in the first 9.
 
I am starting to watch Dollhouse 😀 Iam really enjoying it .Lol I thought it would be rubish but it not it's in my head lol 😀
I am going to watch ep 3 now on my ipod lol 😀😀 🙂 !!!
