AMC & OLTL- cancelled!!!

ABC has pulled the plug on its long-running soaps 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live.'

According to the network, the final episode of 'All My Children' will air this September. 'One Life to Live' will air through January 2012. The network will replace the soaps with two new shows, 'The Chew' and 'The Revolution.'

I'm in shock. No, I don't watch either on a regular basis, and I was always more of a GH fan, but still, these ABC soaps are iconic to me!

Ever since I saw the Livejournal entry in the community, Ohnotheydidnt, I've been so mad.

I've been watching OLTL for a while now. At least 4-6 years. (I know it doesn't sound long.) Long enough for me to be really mad. Even Nathan Fillion tweeted about it.

AMC has until September and OLTL til January 2012. Then the soaps are gone. It makes me so sad. I feel like I've been watching this soap for a long, long time. Feels like more the 4-6 years. I hate to see the soap go.

Yup after 40+ years on television they have been cancelled. I read that they were going to be replaced by two lifestyle talk shows.

So, I had never watched any of these shows before this January, at which point I moved and currently only have ABC. So during the day the TV is my background noise and I have become sort of attached to these shows and characters... Sad day.

I used to watch both of these religiously but then last summer I stopped to watch other shows non-stop. My mom has watched AMC since she was a kid. She also watches OLTL religiously. I feel bad for her. Her husband cheered when I told them at dinner, mom said "I want to go watch them now. Oh god." 🙁 It's the end of an era.

This is upsetting I mainly watch OLTL and GH. I listen to AMC. It is just going to be so weird not seeing Todd Manning and David from AMC. I never thought soap opera's would get cancelled. I hope GH is doing okay. My mother was upset seeing how she has watched them almost all her life.

No no no. He played Joey Buchanan for 3 years in the '90s. And I've got y'all beat: I've been watching ABC soaps since 1981! It's been an on/off again affair though through the years, mainly because of work. But I do like catching up on Soapnet from time to time!

Yep I watched some flashback episodes for special occasions he was adorable. I remember when he came back wasn't it for Pa's funeral, well Asa sorry I keep hearing David Vickers in my head.

I am upset because the storyline with Todd I was hoping the old Todd would come back and then we could have both Todd's could you imagine? That would be amazing.

The only soap I've ever watched religiously at one time was "Young and the Restless". I'm not bothered one way or the other, but I'm shocked 'cause they've been on TV for so long.

Agree with HisMrs, I've never been a soap person but wow, these shows just seemed like they were destined to go one forever so it's a bit shocking to find them cancelled.

I am going to be honest I don't really care for AMC as much I mean I listen to it more than I actually sit and watch it but it is going to be so weird not seeing Erica.

Me too. I'm always watching Chelsea Lately, After lately.

Yeah, I never watched AMC so I can't really say much. But that's how I'll feel about OLTL. I'm so use to 'listening' and sometimes watching it on my tv.

Well, I think General Hospital may have another year or so. I'm not sure that even General Hospital will last. I think they'll probably cancel General Hospital in a year or two but I could be wrong. It's just a prediction. What do you think? I watch GH. But sometimes the Mob stuff get to be too much.
