I am of the opinion that any Buffy movie made without Joss or SMG is bound to fail. It's Joss' baby, he understands it better than anyone and they already proved with the original movie that when you go against Joss it really will suck!! Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic if the movie was brilliant I just don't see how it's possible without the people that made it work in the first place. I totally agree with the article and I must admit that quote about Willow was freakin' awesome!!!! lol!

Because I don't read the comics, and treat them as really popular fanfic, I have to say that except for that little time when Willow goes crazy, she becomes that awesome witch at the end - so do they mean, in the article that while there may be some ups and downs, the end result will be good?

Well yes, they mean that if you completely disregard a whole season's worth of Willow that puts her in a very different place come one ultimate conclusion. So that's a no then.

There are people that don't even count seasons 6 and 7, so I don't think its beyond the realms of sanity to disregard the absolutely terrible comic book story that is little more than a spin off novel.

The Lost Slayer is a fantastic book, but I don't count it canon, and I don't need anyone telling me what I can count as canon - especially as Joss is on record as stating that he would disregard the story himself in certain circumstances.

And for those of you who are getting annoyed with people not wanting the movie to be made, just chill out. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. Some people, like myself, aren't very receptive to change and like things to be familiar to them. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just personal preference.

Just because a TV show was good, doesn't mean I want the movie to be worse - in fact I want a movie to be better so I enjoy it.

I think its quite childish of alot of members here to be so against something that is in its earliest of development stages just because its not going to be the exact story you want told by the exact man.

People really need to get it into their heads that Joss Whedon doesn't want to make a Buffyverse movie.

They potentially have an option coming up soon, watch it or don't, one shows a maturity to judge someone by its own standards and the other shows a childish 'throwing the toys out of the pram' mentality that is becoming very evident from some corners of this very site.

I find it amusing that you are telling the people to chill out when in essence it seems to be the ones who don't want this movie to be made that need to 'chill out'.

Telling people to 'chill out' because they don't agree with the stance the movie should be made that is laughable when there is far more hate and vitriole being sprouted by the opposing argument.

I really don't see the hate when it comes to this movie. It hasn't been made yet and people are saying it's gonna suck. Just because Joss invented Buffy, doesn't mean that somebody can't come along and improve it. I would think that people would be happy about finally getting a Buffy movie but instead everyone is bashing it. I really don't give a crap if Joss isn't involved because personally, I never cared for him anyway. I'm a fan of Buffy, not Joss Whedon. So maybe that's why I'm excited about the movie.

I don't think anyone is trying to be "childish" in saying they don't like the idea of a Buffy movie being told without it's original creator involved. They're just really passionate about the story line as we've come to know and love it as told by Joss. It's simply a preference. They're just expressing the frustration they feel about following it for so long and seeing it handed off to people that they aren't confident will do it justice. Maybe it will be made and maybe it will be great. I for one will give it a chance but I don't look at those that won't and think their opinions and feelings are any less valid. That they're trying to be the member of some elite club that just wants to feel special. I don't believe anyone here is that petty. I feel that the real maturity comes from being able to share your views respectfully without trashing someone else simply for the way they feel. If anything that's been the only heart breaker for me viewing these threads. I just don't see why there has to be so many personal attacks made...

I'm not looking forward to the movie, I think it's just cash-in off the success of Twilight and the whole remaking every movie you can think of. I remember there being a thread on here about the success of Twilight bringing about the idea of a Buffy movie. Oh and look? There's a Buffy movie? What a coincidence! The hate all over the internet and so on is a bit extreme, but then it's their opinion, why not. Oh and I don't see why people can't discuss it without resorting to insults.

I don't care if Joss ever wants to make a Buffy movie, I'm happy with the 7 seasons there are (and I haven't even caught up with the comics yet). The reason I don't like the idea of the film is that I hated the original film, and I'm not fond of remakes.

I am not being childish by not wanting the movie to be made; I thought the way the series ended was just fine and they should leave well enough alone. I'm not going to go out and protest or anything, but I think if Joss isn't involved I have no interest in seeing it. I hated the original movie, so if it's not going to be written in the same style as the show, I probably would hate it. I do think those who keep talking about how crappy it's going to be and how it's doomed to fail need to back up a minute because to keep repeating that over and over is a little extreme. But everyone here is entitled to their own opinions, so let's all chill and talk about this reasonably.
Instead of everyone acting like their opinion is the gospel, let's just stick to stating why we, personally, do or don't want to see it made and not throw around comments like 'childish' at people because they don't agree. Ok, y'all? 😀

If it wasn't for the first movie, I would have never even watched the TV show. Even if the movie was bad, I still loved it. I'm sure I'll like this one too.
