Question Amends (victims)

I was a little confused re watching Episode 10 "Amends" in season 3. One of the victims that the First appeared as was a man in suit talking about how Angel had carefully laid his children to make them look like they were sleeping. When exactly did this family die? The mans clothes look pretty modern. When exactly was Angel to have killed them? Are we to assume he did it when he lost his soul after his moment of happiness?


If someone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful, thanks!!

PS, is there a detailed history on the Characters somewhere? A book or something?

I am thinking that man died when Angel lost his soul in Season 2. I thought about that, too; how his clothes looked so modern, like a businessman of today. The only time that makes sense is when he was Angelus in Season 2.

I don't think there are any detailed descriptions of the characters in "Amends".... Not that I've ever heard of anyway.
