I personally don't watch the show anymore, but I'm still curious to see what they come up with theme-wise.
Six teasers have been released for the sixth season, currently just labelled "American Horror Story ?6". They're being extra secretive about this one for some reason. From the looks of the teasers, it seems like some sort of farmhouse/harvest theme.

I think the cast is the same as it was for season 5, but not certain on that.

I watched seasons 1, 2 and 3, but 3 was so dire I gave up. Their trailers are always great though

I gave up a few episodes into season 4 (Freak Show).
Yeah, the teasers tend to be more interesting than the actual show in my opinion. Sadly that hype doesn't tend to last for me once the series starts. Maybe that's why they've not done as many teasers for the last two seasons; trying to monitor people's enthusiasm and expectation haha.

I've only liked s1 and 2, have watched s3 and 4 for the most part, and didn't even attempt s5, but it is always fun to guess what the theme will be!

I'm not sure what they are going for exactly here, I do get the farmhouse theme, but also it seems they are taking inspiration from popular horror movies. Chainsaw Massacre, Rosemary's Baby (maybe?), Human Centipede, The Hills Have Eyes. I'm probably reading far too much into it.

One theory that I have heard is that there won't actually be a specific theme this season, although they've blatantly led people to believe there will be, so it's a bit of a dick move if that does turn out to be the case... but I can't say I'd put it past Murphy.

A lot of people seem to think that there's a pretty good possibility that this will be connected to season 1 and the devil child. So your Rosemary's Baby thought might be pretty accurate Blaze. Also people have noticed that the mobile over the crib seems to spell out "PIG" and I vaguely remember there being a murderer who wore a pig mask in the first season. (Of course this is all just viewer speculation).

The devil child would fit. The first think I thought of is that if they're gonna do a devil storyling, the 6th season is the season to do it, you know, with 666 being the theme.

So it turns out that all but one teaser is a fake-

“There are many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story — different genres, different places,” Landgraf said of the season-six campaign. “One of them is accurate; the others are all misdirects. We just thought that would be a nice change after five years of doing things one way,”

So no point me posting the other teasers, since most of them have nothing to do with anything.

This actually makes me even more glad that I stopped watching. Fans enjoy interpreting the teasers in the run up to the season. Hell, a lot of the time that's more interesting than the actual show!
It's not "a nice change", it's annoying and obnoxious. Looking at the comments, it seems like this has backfired on them... turns out toying with loyal fans after multiple crappy seasons doesn't go down so well (go figure!)
But even so, it probably won't hurt them too much.

If they do a teaser trailer of Secrets of Sunnydale, or maybe Sunnydale Motor Inn ("see Sunnydale the year before Buffy arrived, written and directed by Joss Whedon") and showing Snyder, the Mayor, the perverted coach, and others being involved in macabre and horrible things (before Buffy) while more Men In Black got munched, and then it turned out to be a fake, I'd hope there would be riots in the streets! 😡😛😉

Though in all seriousness, I bet those fake trailers allow writers to know what the public wants, even if they are fake (that is, they won't be fake for long). 'Course there are many hoops to jump through and plenty of good shows never make it on the air (or are sabotaged until they're no longer viable) while some really bad ones get the green light.

I actually did consider that all this secrecy might just be because they're still working out what the story is. Especially considering how Ryan Murphy's attention seems to be far more on "Crime Story" and "Scream Queens" at this point.

Apparently the title won't be revealed until the premiere. That adds to my suspicion.

If they were going to go for such a gimmick, they should have done this waaaaaay earlier and had a fan vote. Choose your own horror story. Now that could have been fun.

You have a new av! I had to double take! :o
The main title had me thinking it would be good but when it started episode 1 season 1 I realised it wasn't horror in a supernatural sense but horror in a mankind being really nasty to another person.
It is a bit like watching Wrong Turn and hoping to see Dracula or BTVS and waiting for chainsaws.
Horror in most cultures makes a person think of the supernatural, not so to the makers of the series. So I would suggest the makers watch actual horror stuff or maybe scary stuff, like the news.

haha the supernatural comes on after ep 1
So I gave the premiere a shot and I'm surprised to say that I thought it was really good. The acting was great, I really like the idea and I'm looking forward to episode 2.
I haven't watched anything beyond clips of this series since I gave up about 2 episodes into Freak Show, but this seems really different to anything they've done recently. Dare I say it, this might actually be something resembling a horror!

Of course it could all turn to crap as usual, but at least I'm not instantly put off this one like I was season 4.

For anyone interested, these are the three teasers that were actually accurate (most of them were fake, as previously mentioned)

I loved season 1 and 2, hated 3, thought 4 was ok and gave up with 5 completely! I will try this new season though just to see what is is like 😀

I'm more or less same as you.
Loved 1 and 2.
Season 3 was actually what got me to catch up, but thought it was a huge bowl of wasted potential.
Didn't like season 4, gave up 2 or 3 eps in.
Haven't seen season 5... just looked like a stretched out Gaga video to me.

I think they might have actually listened to some viewer criticism with this one. It seems very dark and focused, not just a case of throwing everything at the wall like with some past seasons. I won't give it away, but the way it's filmed is very different (in a good way).
Of course we're only an episode in, but I think they might actually be targeting people who loved the early seasons (Murder House especially), because this definitely seems like an attempt to get back to its roots.

Priceless
Priceless
I wasn't going to bother, but I might give this one a try
Oh and the official title is
American Horror Story: Roanoke

Hmm, interesting. I gave up after a few eps of S5. I'll give the first ep of this season a try. I want it get back to what made the first 2 seasons good and scary.

Ditto. I got some good Murder House vibes, so I'm cautiously hopeful.
Well they've released a promo for episode 2. I won't share it here because I don't want to spoil anyone who fancies checking out the premiere... but I'm very excited to see more of Kathy Bates' character. Anyone who wants to see it, you can find it on YouTube or Instagram at AHSFX.
