I was just watching Witch, and I started wondering something...i know Amy and her mother switched bodies, but why did her mother in Amy's body seem so shocked when things happened to the other girls? Was she just a really good actor? Amy's mother seem to have been a knowing and powerful witch, so she shouldn't really be surprised. Just wonna know what others think...

She looked shocked when Amber caught fire, and when that girls mouth in the lab disappeared. She was at first shocked about the mixture, but even more when she saw that girls face.

I think it was pretty much just an act. You know, to throw the dogs off her scent? If she played stone cold, someone might suspect something. Considering all the victims were cheerleaders, and a witch in SunnyD dosen't exactly surprise anyone! :cheerlead

Yeah I just watched this episode again as well. It must have been an act...you react to a situation because that's how you're expected to react. But also..wasn't she switching in and out of Amy's body? So perhaps it wasn't her mom at the time. I can't remember (my memory is awful!)

I can relate, most of the time I'd lose my head if it wasn't attatched! But I think throughout that eppie Amy was pretty much her mother. I don't think Amy reclaimed her body until the end. But I could be wrong- I usually am! I'll have to watch that episode again. :sigh:

🙂 I wasn't sure but I'm thinking you might be right! 😀 I'll have to rewatch it AGAIN also..LOL!

I liked this episode a lot, I'm glad that Elizabeth Anne Allen got a recurring role on the series up till almost the end. I have sometimes wondered whether this body switching and the personalities were always consistent. But I don't worry too much about it.

The question that's intrigued me is whether, at this very early stage in the series, Joss and his creative team already had the idea of turning Willow into a witch. Willow plays a relatively minor part in fighting Amy (the fire axe notwithstanding LOL), it's Giles who wields the witchcraft to defeat her. Anyone have any ideas? Or does anyone know outright?

Well, it would've had to be an act... it would be pretty suspicious if "Amy" didn't freak out when these things were happnening, such as the girls hands starting on fire.

this is my ALLTIME #1 EP, it's soooo good, but i'm beginning to think that maybe the spell in the end got kind of reversed, because why all of a sudden amy get into magic in s2, has anyone ever thought of that?

amy's mom was pretty convincing as her you know

but yea it was an act

I don't think it backfired. What I think it was is that she had access to her moms witchcraft stuff so she probably got curious and experimented.

you don't need a spell to backfire for someone to go bad in sunnydale! its often down to cirsumtance.
Well yes I know you don't need a spell to backfire in Sunnydale for things to go wrong, lol. I'm just saying I don't think Amy went bad because of the spell her mom did.

i just watched this episode today again, and i wondered the same thing. I mean I guess Amy had to have been her mom from the beginning of cheerleading tryouts-because otherwise the girl probably wouldn't have caught on fire, and I agree that it was Amy who went bad in the later seasons. Sunnydale just does that to people

No, I think that she was in Amy's body till the end when Amy got it back. And yeah, it was probably all an act, I mean, it would be obvious if a girl's mouth disappeared in the middle of class, everyone was screaming, except one girl who is just sitting there.

I didn't know anything about her powers. I
mean, when dad was here they would fight and yell and he would... call
her a witch and... I mean, I would, just thought he meant... Oh, God,
when he left I wanted to go with him. But she wouldn't even let me call.
She went crazy, I mean, she'd lock herself upstairs for days, and she
was always coming down on me, telling me I didn't deserve to have it so
easy, and that I didn't know... how hard it was to be her, and... I
guess she showed me, huh? A few months ago, I woke up in h... her bed! I didn't know where I was, and... then I looked in the mirror...
That should explain the switching question

yeah well amy ( her mother) she would have been a major suspect if she didnt act shocked, and hey turns out amy is like her mam in later seasons anyway??? hummm wouldnt it be cool if her mam escaped the statue prison and reclaimed amy body??? that would have been a interesting episode ?
