If you had to turn an episode of Ats in a musical one, like OMWF, which one would you choose?

I don't think Angel needed one, we already had a lot of feeling come out through singing in Angel, with Lorne being able to read people in Caritas. Plus would you really want an ep with Angel singing!

While I can't stand the idea of an Angel musical ep (mostly cause I think it wouldn't have fitted with the tone of the show) if I had to then I'd pick one of the Pylea episodes because they were so tonally different. If there was ever a time for them all to sing and dance then that was it 🙂

I agree...and I like the Pylea idea...but best of all would be no musical at all.
Tell the truth. Does this

look like they needed a musical episode on "Angel?"

Granted, this scene was mostly for its comedic content, but it established that Angel not only could not sing, but that his singing voice could be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Even if David were a very good singer, having him sing well would have been out of character. But then, again, it would be funny, so I guess they could make it a musical comedy.

Agreed. I think it is worth having Angel sing for the comedy value, but if you had a whole episode of singing I am not sure it would work. Like TAAKE said it just wouldn't fit with the tone of the show either.

Also the Buffy musical came about partly because of the cast hanging out off set and Josh hearing that they had really good singing voices. It happened very naturally. Unless the makers were sure that the cast of Angel were up to the task then it would have been a gamble too far.

Actually that's a good idea. It would explain why the host was gifted with the powers that he had.. of course there would be little melodrama, but at least it would have made sense tonally. The scenes in the palace could have been great.. with Cordy lamenting having to com-shuck and then Groo coming in swinging beasts entrails, etc singing how he's killed everything.

Instead of fighting at the end, Groo and Angel could have had a dance off, each taking parts singing in a battle duet. Actually, ya know what.. I would have really liked that episode!

I would be for that. Another plus is that it would make those episodes suck less😉

Oaky forgot about "We are the Champions" that was so many levels of cool! Maybe even better than Cordy's naff singing in Buffy S1😎

The closest that Angel ever got to a 'tonal' episode similar to the 'OMWF' musical was 'Waiting In The Wings' which was about the beauty and melodrama often associated with ballet/opera.

You had jealousy, forbidden passion, a love triangle, dramatic declarations of love, sword fighting, and ballet (of course). It felt very much like a mini-opera itself, just like 'OMWF' felt like a mini-musical.

And I agree with @Taake, if you were going to fit an actual musical episode into Angel, it would have to be in Pylea, where the tone of the show was already jarringly off.

Otherwise you'll just have to stick with the singing at Karitas. You had everyone singing there anyway; Lorne, Angel, Fred, Lindsey, Darla, Harmony, etc. 🙂

Plus in Waiting In The Wings you had snoring Cordy..

Angel and Groo dance off! OMG, I need this in my life 😀 😉

It would have been awesome.. I pine for it actually. But I pine for alot so it's just another thing added to the list.
