In one of the last episodes, when the scoobies goes and kidnap a sargent (or something like that) he says that they are anarchists.... so I was thinking...it was true?
I think yes, at the begining Buffy don't want to be a Slayer, but the she it's ok with that but she doesn't take the rules.
In 3season the scoobies killed the evil mayor (I know he was evil but he was the mayor anyway).
Also the scoobies aren't totally anarchists they have they rules.
So what do ya think?
 
I don't really think that's anarchy. Anarchy is having NO gov't or foundation of one. I don't consider them like that.....
 
In higschool a teacher of mine says that anarchy is not to destroy and do whatever you want anarchy is that you don't need one single people to rule you.
But I don't know maybe it's wrong.
 
I know, I wasn't sure bout my definition either...Ok, here's what dictionary site said:

Absence of any form of political authority.
Political disorder and confusion.
Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.
----

I think maybe they have some of those aspects but not all of them. (IMO)
 
I know that the anarchy movement in the twenties and thirties was based on the belief that in the absence of leadership, the resulting chaos would produce a kind of utopia (kind of like the nvisible hand theory of economics).

Going by that definition, I don't think that the scoobies are anarchists, since they don't seem to want to get rid of all authority indescriminately, they just try to weed out the bad influences and keep the good.
 
It is almost impossible to define the word anarchy, all anarchists I know, or have talked to, explain it deferently.. Some think it is stealing and never paying taxes and some just think it is an ideal that is great but that we can never live after.. I guess the "real" meaning of the word is that there are no leaders and no laws and you can so whatever you want, but as you know the word is almost never used that way.. Anyway I don't think Buffy, and the others, would call them selves anarchists, and I don't think they are/were..
 
Lol...I;m guessing Faldor was being sarcastic...but you can never tell with him...

Anyway...I don't think they were anarchists in that they have no rules or leadership what-so-ever. They may have some aspects of anarchy, but I wouldn't consider them anarchists.
