Andrew telling Angel and his crew they didn't trust them

Did anybody else hate that it was Andrew of all people telling Angel and his friends that the Scoobies no longer trusted them due to them working with Wolfram and Hart?

IF IT WASN'T FOR WOLFRAM AND HART the Scoobies would be dead buried underneath the Hellmouth lmao. Also why did they send Andrew of all people to give Angel that message? Why not Xander or Willow?

Willow was on the astral plane, so she had to send her message via Xander in Africa. Then Xander sent a message to the Council, and they passed it on just in time to give Andrew a view screen full of slayers to back him up.😀

Actually, I would have liked to see Xander here. He was on the verge of growing up when the show was ending - I'd like to have had a chance to see grown up Xander. And Xander would actually have been more than a comic sidekick.

W&H or whoever had evil intentions when they gave Angel the amulet. They wanted to make Angel suffer any way possible, rather it be dying in the Hellmouth or seeing Spike look like the real champion.

I believe Andrew was just an emissary; the idea of them not being trusted because of W&H was a thing established in all minds over the Atlantic – or Giles made Andrew think so. You know, don't kill the messenger...

Why not Xander or Willow?

Andrew went to LA to deal with damaged Dana, to bring her to the Slayers' care. I don't think, for that mission, a poweful witch was necessary. Could have been Xander... yeah, I don't know why couldn't have been him. What makes me think that Giles had his reasons to send Andrew.

Or... because Alyson Hannigan or Nicholas Brendon weren't available...

Anyone who knows Buffy can rest assured of one unchanging fact, and that is that she simply does not give up on the people she cares about, no matter what they do. If she never lost faith in Spike in Season 7, despite all of the quite legitimate reasons to do so, why would anyone, Angel, Spike, or the fans, believe that she would no longer trust Angel just a year later?

As for Andrew in this episode, everything from his first walking in, to being with Angel and Spike at the end, were completely within character as it was established in Season 7. Everything, that is, up until the "Buffy doesn't trust you," speech with the squad of Slayers as back up. That was a total lie, and everyone should have known it immediately, just as they should have known that Andrew couldn't lie that convincingly if his life depended on it. It should have been either Xander or Giles, no one else, delivering that line.

That message was an extra tidbit, Andrew was sent to L.A for Dana the psychotic slayer which was an appropriate task for him as opposed to Xander or Willow being a watcher-in-training.

I do disagree with him delivering that message though, Willow would have been more appropriate since she was pretty much Angel's connection to Buffy and to Sunnydale.
Willow doesn't always have to be useful for her magic though, she could have been sent with Andrew as the most likely person to reach this poor girl due to her ability to relate having also watched someone she loved be killed, felt that helplessness and experienced emotional instability. She would have worked well, perhaps even better than Angel in the climatic scene between him and Dana when he's trying to talk her down and assure her that she's strong now.
It wouldn't have been unlike Willow, however, to have wanted to accompany Andrew explicitly to deliver that message in person, she does have that kind of consideration for Angel and his team...or well she did (remember she also kept in contact with Cordelia and called her in 'Disharmony' specifically to warn her that Harmony was in the area and a vampire).

Actually I would have bought it coming from Giles as well but Andrew was the absolute worst person considering that he's known to be a pathological liar. Remember how he couldn't get the story of Jonathon's murder straight? I'll bet the Scoobies didn't even expect him mention anything to Angel about their distrust, it's not like he needed to know that. Andrew probably chose to throw that in Angel's face to give himself power, he did seem to exaggerate the statement like it was an irreversible state of mind when everyone knows Buffy would have come around (and I think I've read that she does in the comics), she could never really think the worst of Angel to the point where she'd even underestimated Angelus. That would be very characteristic of Andrew and the slayers who backed him up wouldn't have known any better.

If we take S8 into consideration, seems that only Giles and Andrew were in contact with Angel and his crew. Buffy and Xander were busy in Scotland - not to forget Xander grieving Anya away only to be kidnapped by Dracula. Giles didn't lie when he said that Willow wasn't around - no one really knew where she was for a whole year.

I do wish that it was Xander or Giles appearing in this episode instead of Andrew, though.

If Willow was unavailable, then as I've said I vote for Giles. He also would have been appropriate to handle Dana so could have completely replaced Andrew instead of accompanied him.
The Willow layout in my original post could have still been arranged though as they didn't have to have her disappear or could have waited until after this appearance to initiate that.
