Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayers on Blu-Ray??

Is it weird that I don't want this to happen? I still own a VCR. It's a DVD/VCR combo, so yeah...I tend to live in the past, just a little bit. If they do this, I hope it isn't any time soon. I just bought Angel and upgraded all of my Buffy DVDs to the Chosen Collection just a few years ago, I really don't feel like upgrading again.

I won't be able to stop myself from buying the blu-ray version haha. I really do want more special features, truly...just not any time soon. Maybe I'm being just a tad selfish 😉

Blu-ray would ruin the atmosphere of buffy, it's grainy and gritty like dusting vampires would be, if you made it all shiny and new it wouldn't be as enthralling as it was. Maybe I'm living in the past, but like Giles and his taste for knowledge that smells, a cult classic like Buffy needs to have that textured grain to create the dark atmosphere.

Although I'm all for a new release with more special features!

I see Blu-Ray working better for Angel than for BtVS. I'm not sure those early seasons of Buffy would transfer well.

I've always loved the way Angel was filmed, and think it might transfer to Blu-Ray quite well.

Yeah, the sweeping shots of LA at night would look awesome on Blu-Ray

If they release a Blu-Ray version, I don't think I'll buy it... Took me 4 years of Christmas presents to get all the Buffy and Angel seasons, I won't do it again... Plus, it would only be for the special features... might as well watch them on YouTube... (where they'd surely end up *roll eyes*)

Plus, DVDs are a good deal. No forward/rewind like a VHS and everythign is easy to access. Plus, I can watch it in English (when I'm alone) or in French (when my mom is watching too). It's the best you can get. a Blu-Ray would give me nothing more than special features... So why bother?

I have too many DVD's to rebuy them all on blu-ray, but if Buffy and Angel were released on Blu-ray with new special features, I would definitely buy them. However, like it was pointed out, the graininess of the first seasons may be lost, and I wouldn't want to loose that original look.

For those of you mentioning the grain of the first few seasons, and the fear of losing that on a Blu-Ray release, have any of you seen the Ghostbusters Blu? The grain is still very much present, but the picture still has the mind blowing quality you would expect out of a Blu-Ray. It isn't impossible, by any means, to preserve the 'graininess' of a production while still upgrading the overall picture quality.

As for Buffy and Angel, specifically on Blu....I, personally, think it needs to happen. And it will, sooner or later. DVD WILL eventually become obsolete, and cult classics such as Buffy don't just fall out of print.

With as much money as I've funneled into both shows over the years on DVDs alone, I refuse to put anymore money into the pockets of the studios for either series until they are released on Blu-Ray.
