Leaving out the thoughts and beliefs, the if's, but's and maybe's about souls and the like.

When Angelus is cursed by the gypsy's, he is created as Angel.
Wouldn't that indicate that Angelus was no more ?
So how come Angelus was 'as a' living being inside Angel ?
Was mention made of Angel being alive inside Angelus ?

You want to leave out thoughts, beliefs, ifs and buts then ask a question that can only be answered by thought, belief, supposition, ifs and buts.

I'll show you what I mean.

This part of the question is impossible to answer with a definite answer.

How much of the person is dictated by the soul?
We don't know.
How much is by the actions of the man which are stored in memories?
We don't know.

What we know is that Angelus is Liam without a Soul and Angel is the combined experiences of Liam and Angelus.
Now If.
If the soul returned to Angelus is Liams, then he must be Liam with Angelus no more, but he is painfully aware of all the deeds Angelus did and feels(another aspect of what makes us us - our emotion) guilty thus meaning that Angelus is in him.

We have to then take it the other way. We know that something of the host remains in the body because the Vampire retains all the memories.
Is not a man just the sum of his memories?
If this is the case then every step of the way Liam/Angelus/Angel is the same person just without a conscience at some stages.
