Angel back from hell?

How did Angel returned from Hell? Some belive that The Powers That Be brought him back, but some, that include me, belive Buffy's love brought him back. In the first 3 episodes of season 3 we see Buffy is dreaming about Angel. But what if she isn't dreaming about him, what if he wasn't just a part of her dream, what if he was in her dream? Like in Amends. I mean, if The First has that power, shouldn't their love have that kind of power? Isn't that basic concept of good is winning over bad? What if even when he was somewhere else, not on this planet, what if they really had conection? I sure belive her love brought him back, and I belive that dreams were his cry for help. And then she put small, but powerful form of their love, and he was there. Thoughts?

I honestly don't think her love brought him back. IMO even in tv land that's a stretch. I don't see how that would work. Yes she loved him, but he is dead. There was no magic entwined with the love or something that could explain this theory. Tara died and I think Willow loved her just as much as Buffy loved Angel. Willow was hardcore wanting her back. No there were no dreams between them but I don't think it was Angel in the dreams anyway. If he was asking for help, he kinda sucked at it because the dreams had nothing to do with pleas. On top of that, I think he would have mentioned the dreams to Buffy if it was him. Lastly, the moment before Angel arrived, Buffy let go of him by placing the ring on the floor. I just doubt that "her love" could bring him back if she decided to move on. Im not saying she loved him less, but it's not like he would have been her whole world at that point since she had accepted he was gone. I think the powers that be brought him back for the prophecy. If love brought him back, there would have been a lot of dead people returning. And I just don't understand how it would work. Love is a feeling And holds power but it does not have some sort of magical power.

But Tara was killed by the man, normaly, Angel was sucked into Hell. I think that's a big difference. He was alive in some dimension, Tara went to Heaven, I hope.
Personally I believe, like I do regarding what happened in 'Amends', it was a case of the PTB stepping in and changing Angel's fate. Yet, we'll never know really - so as far as I'm concerned, your theory about love is as good as any.

I think I have to go with Joan's theory here. I also thought it had more to do with the PTBs than anything else and agree with the reasons Emzzie has already said. Although, I guess with the events of 'Amends' I'd also argue it's just as likely to have been The First, maybe more so than the PTBs. If The First had always planned to do what happened in S7 then I'd say their theory was to bring Angel back and get him to surrender to his desires and kill Buffy to take one of their biggest threats later on.

The love idea is a really nice idea, but like Emzzie said, no matter how strong a love is, it can't bring someone back from the dead, not even in the 'verse.

I also think that unfortunately her dreams were more about her own guilt and unconscious. They were either Angel getting all zombie on her and mocking her, or her dreaming of things that could never happen like canoodling on the beach. She was being haunted by her own actions, I think.

I think that by now it's been fairly well established that whoever was responsible for manipulating things in order to allow for the birth and accelerated development of both Connor and Jasmine herself were actually the ones who brought Angel back. And since Angel's future seems to be pretty well interlaced with the Senior Partners, they would be my candidate for the ones responsible for his return from hell.

Exactly. So, the PTB makes the most sense.

His accelerated growth i always contributed to time moving differently on Cortoth(sp?).

Jasmine's accellerated growth. She was right here, and she still frew to adulthood practically between commercial breaks.
Pb- Even if that is a difference, you're not explaining how that difference would affect the ability for someone to come back from the dead without magic. Also Angel was killed normally with a sword. That was not by magic.

The First said he brought him back to kill Buffy but I ultimately agree that Jasmine's love did the deal.

Angel wasn't killed though. A sword couldn't kill a vampire, she just stabbed him, made him bleed, and pushed him back into the portal so it would close. It's not a stretch to say someone magical pulled him out of the hell dimension is it?

You're right. Duh, I forgot that swords can't kill vamps. No that is not a stretch, as you can see from my posts I think the only way to bring someone back IS by magic. But love is not magic, and even if he was killed by magic that won't change.

I belive love is magic. I belive love is stronger then magic. And I belive love is stronger then anything in this world. Am I insane? Probably. Am I right? Maybe. A lot of people would disagree, but there are ones who would agree. Do I belive in love? With all my heart. I belive she brought him back. Yes, she said goodbye. But she wasn't ready to say it. If she was they wouldn't be together again in season 3. You see, love is magic. And it can forgive anything. It can give you anything you want. How many people think about that this way? Too little I think. Angel was alive somewhere. If he was dead, he wouldn't remember anything he survived in that hell dimension he was. He was alive in hell, burning, and then she came back, and put her hart on the place he fell.

I'm not sure my opinion on what brought Angel back, but I do think it would be pretty pointless to put the focus on the ring as Angel was brought back. It had to have some sort of significance, in my opinion.

I think he was brought back at the same spot where he was sent to Hell the former location of Achatla in the mansion. The placement of the ring at the same spot is symbolic for Buffy letting him go, the time of returning was just a coincidence for dramatic purposes.

Now I'm confused. Are we talking
about Bangel or real life now? I think it's safe to say love has never brought anyone back from the dead or that magic is not real 😛 As for your other points, I agree love is strong but I stand by my opinion that actual magic is not entwined with every love story. I stand by my opinion that love is a feeling in your heart and soul and is a beautiful thing. It does have many of the things you point out. But it also has hardships, ups and downs, betrayals, and I believe it does not have power to change the universe, heaven or hell. The world, even in Tv land, does not work like that. I commend you for standing by your opinion though PB. It's a very sweet theory.

I've been rewatching Beauty and the Beast, and when Buffy asks Giles is it possible that Angelus returns from Hell, he says yes, and then she asks how would he be? Then he says they are two types of demons, one that wants to be reedemed and the other one who doesn't have humanity, can't repond to reason or love. Angel did. Buffy was with him when he didn't knew who he was, when he didn't understand her and when he couldn't answer to her. In the end, maybe her love didn't brought him back (I still belive it did 😀) but for sure it did saved him, and brought the real Angel back, not only his body, her love brought back man he was from the inside.

I remember that Angel comes back after Buffy finally decides to let him go, by putting the ring he gave her on the ground of his crypt. Perhaps that had something to do with it.
