Since the canonicity of this story is still unknown I'm not sure whether I'm going to get it. I wish Joss would just make some kind of statement about it and not only mind his latest greatest.
 
Sounds interesting, but does it refer to one of the two World Wars, or is it set sometime in the future, since it refers to Angel's "home" being America, and his "help the helpless" phase didn't start until after he met Buffy (And I sure hope that girl's name isn't Trenches)
 
This story is set during the first world war and Yes, I'm a little concerned with how this is going to 'fit' into Angel mythology too - The show told us that Angel came to America at the turn of the 20th Century and as far as we knew he stayed put. I suppose it is possible that he had a quick trip back to Europe to have an WWI adventure, but the show also showed us that Angel was very much dispondent and isolated during this period and he certainly wasn't a 'good guy' yet so it doesn't seem likely that he would get involved in the war or, for that matter the activities of an 'ancient evil' - he just didn't care about anything much at that point. On the other hand, Angel's backstory is so full of blind spots where we don't know what had been happening to him that this new story might be plausable and fit in with his existing/known history.

I'm pretty sure I'll still buy it just to see what it's like.
 
This could be the reason he was disapointed in humans. Alot of people where after the great war. The term lost generation was coined by the writers who came to fame in the 20's and 30's
 
This book is a mistake. Just read what it about, Angel willing saving the humans in World War I (1914-1918). Well, we know that Angel was forced into World War II (1939-1945) by the US Government (ANGEL season 5 "Why We Fight"). Angel didn't want to be a part of it.
Also, ANGEL season 2 "Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been?,
shown Angel in 1952 leaving the hotel without saving the humans from a demon there.
Angel didn't start helping the humans race 'til he met Whistler. That was in the mid-1990's.

Pretty much every ANGEL book IDW did is boring, besides ANGEL (season 6) After the Fall. It seems like they're just telling ANGEL stories just to tell stories. Totally boring.
And this ANGEL omnibus they just release is so lame it sad.
Should it tied in with ANGEL season 1, you know like the Buffy omnibus. How many of you wanted to see more Doyle? Well,
if IDW did it right from the start we would had--we would even get more of Kate, Buffy, Kate's father, Faith, Lindsey, Lilah, Darla, Holland Manners, Fred, Groosalugg, Holtz, Connor, the Beast, Angelus, Gwen, Spike, Nina, Harmony, Eve, Illyria ect. Now, that would be sweet.
